After initially watching all of your original Alaska series videos, you inspired me to buy my 2016 Super Tenere and travel off the pavement. You are inspirational to many of us. Very much enjoyed watching your experience to Alaska again! Great memories and life changing experiences.
Am watching this in the background while I have all my camp equipment on the floor day dreaming of next years trips. I live about 2 hours away from Athens Ohio and likely will attempt the windy 9 next spring/summer. Intend to explore a lot of West Virginia and Kentucky next year as well. Thanks for the entertainment and laughs.
can’t buy those memories Craig you have to live it !! Hotels ole ya ! That looked awesome. Good job with the video . Scenery was epic. Maybe someday. Thanks
Great video as always! I took a motorcycle tour of Alaska last summer (June 2023). I flew up to Alaska and rented a motorcycle from Motoquest. I too am ready to go back. Thank you for posting your great content on RU-vid.
I recall watching this back then. Five years? Hardto believe. Fun watching this again. I hope to be able to do something similar some day. Most I’ve been able to do so far is 17 days. Very enjoyable video
last June 2023. Went up to Dawson City Yukon, Tuktoyaktuk NWT, Then into Alaska Tok Fairbanks Denali Anchorage, and home via Whitehorse. From Vancouver ect. amazing places to ride. I will have to go back I missed so much.
I watched the original posting back in the day and wasn't planning on watching the whole vid. Ended up watching the whole vid again and enjoyed it as much as the first time 5 years ago. Looking for forward to Alaska 2.0 rsm8
I saw this and thought: "five years! What! No way, it's only been three........." then "Oh wait. Ohhh crap". Can't believe it has been five years. Wow. I found myself thinking of my time in Alaska in 2016 and sending you a few dozen pages of what to do/not do your way. And, ironically, the same friends that accompanied me to Alaska want to go back this year. I'm tempted,...but thinking about it. Frankly, I found the scenery better in B.C. and the Yukon. And now I'm 71, post stroke... but I'm thinking of it. Oh yes I am. All my best to Cathie!
Yes, I agree, BC and the Yukon are beautiful. I say do it if you can. Post stroke! You know I will be reaching out. Hope you are on the mend. Cathy says hello.
I want to make another trip to Alaska and slow down like you did. We went from Oklahoma to Alaska and back 9,300 miles with 20 days on the road. I’d like to have been able to take a little more time in the environment!
Thank you. This was epic enough to watch on the big screen ( stream to the smart TV), where your production values really shine. Will be taking off on my first multi day adventure soon. Nice side benefit of your channel is meeting your subscribers along the way.
I would highly recommend that you add an "Active Duty" or "Retired" military member to your riding group. Why? You will then have full access to Military Base camping areas and very discounted billeting rooms. As a Retired military member, I have found basic/rough camping to be free at most bases. They were only charging folks with campers. My little 2-person tent was no charge. Just a suggestion. Also, there are hot showers at the base gym, no cost! Take care!
I wish this was a lazy Sunday coffee morning where I could sit back, sip and watch this through... But I have a big trail ride going on today and have to get my butt moving to make the KSU. So I'll watch eating breakfast and catch the end tonight when I'm half dead...
Go Bruins! I remember the planning stage to the completion. I live in norther Utah and have ridden 1/2 the roads you eventually got to ride. I am a little younger than you but was fortunate to move around and ride 14 countries and 1/2 the states. Wind is the main reason I have lost some of my love for long distance USA travel. I am guilty that out West i have trailered out of Utah on some of the bike trips to escape the wind. I am still watching. .
It's too bad you didn't ride the Dalton or the Dempster. You came a long way and darn you missed the greatest adventure. I live in Prince George, darn I missed you. Wish I could have met you guys.
Just subscribed. Getting more selective when subscribing to people’s vlogs now days. Consequently, I Really appreciate your standards, views and life’s ideology towards riding. Per one of my life’s last bucket list items that I created many years ago, I want to get on my newly discovered motorcycle like Peter Fonda did in the movie Easy Rider, throw my watch away and just ride off into it. Leave it all behind for awhile. Absolutely leaving it all behind. That’s the point of riding right? Why pack up your problems from the rat race.
If you're passing through the Okanagan Valley again in southern BC (Kelowna, Peachland, Summerland, Osoyoos), I'd love to show you some of the wonderful motorcycling that can be found here off the beaten track. All the best!
Hi there, I just started watching this video. I have a gear question. I noticed that your pillion seat was replaced by a luggage rack. I love that idea. Two questions: 1. Did you like that set up? 2. Have you seen this for the Tuger 1200s? I am looking forward to your trip in 2024. I am planning on riding from my home in Ontario to Tuktoyuktuk in 2025, and I look forward to learning from you. Thanks Dave.
I loved that setup, it was great. I got it from Alt Rider, but not sure both parts are still available. So far, I have not seen anything for the Tiger 1200.
@@LivingOffTheSlab Thanks! I haven't seen them for the Tiger either. Btw, I really enjoy your channel! I have shared it with most of my riding friends. I also truly appreciate your responsiveness to questions and comments. Thank you! Dave
I watched this in fascination , and think I would like to try it on my bike , my dad wanted to go and never got too; so I think I will do it for the both of us , Lord willing… do you have a map of the route you took available? I would like to lay it over a map and see what adjustments I might make . I generally loved the parts you shared , and thanks for a great video!!
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed the video. It was an amazing trip. I do not have maps per day but I do include the GPX files in a course I created about the trip. I go over everything we learned while doing the ride. www.livingofftheslab.com/so-you-want-to-ride-to-alaska
So I'm wondering, when you were in Wall SD, and walking around, do you ever worry about your stuff on the bike? I'm used to traveling on a Goldwing and pulling a trailer with everything locked up. Not that it couldn't get broke into. Just curious.
No, no one has ever touched my stuff. Could it happen, sure, but so far so good. I try not to park out back where the bike can't be seen. I was in the middle of main street.
Looking to coordinate similar track this June or July from Wisconsin to, well at least Liiard Hot Springs. I’m sure hoping to find some other guys that might be willing to do the same. Any ideas on how to meet others interested in the same?
Enjoyed the video. Glad the lady at the campgrounds didn't yank you out of the stall with "Obama" hanging out the backside! RIDE SAFE OUT THERE! watch the gravel.
While I have your attention, is the road to Dawson City all pavement? Intend to head that way this summer. Thanks too for sharing your trips and wisdom!
@@brentcassidy357 It is a chip seal road, but there can be a lot of construction so you may run into quite a bit of dirt, but it was hard packed. Not a problem for ADV bikes and there was riders on Harley's as well.
@@LivingOffTheSlab pretty neat you ran into folks that follow your channel. I too am planning on an Alaska ride when I retire in a few years. It looks so much fun and beautiful I can’t wait to get going.
I used to watch itchy boots but quickly realized her entire motivation is to make money not the journey but the clicks and turned me off. I appreciate people that are into the adventure not using it to keep from working an actual productive job.
@@stevenharris7788 Well let me see. No I could not. First would be, as an American male, half the places that bend over backwards for her would be looking for the appropriate device to lop my head off. I am not blonde I am not cute. My "this is where I am going today "is the route back and forth to work. Her channel changed from her earlier work I even told my Mom to check her out. Her first comment was wow this lady is very naive and I agree. I have nothing against itcy boots I unsubscribed and started finding channels that were not driven by clicks and subscribers. My last straw is when I started seeing her ride casually past injured malnourished animals without even saying a peep. I could not do that as a human being thus I know I will never be on youtube and that's OK.
