Our country is filled with amazing people and spectacular locations. And for me, there is no better way to seek them out than from the saddle of a motorcycle. As everyone who rides a bike can attest, there is just something magical about floating over the tarmac on two wheels; providing a sense of freedom and adventure.
This channel is dedicated to those who share my passion for motorcycle travel. It is my way of sharing my experiences while traveling in my home town and across our great country. Hopefully, it will inspire you to get out and follow your own personal dreams and ambitions.
I have cruised Espania and Portugals back roads for many years now. Bardenas Reales desert through to Tabernas desert ..Never any motorways or freeways..Never any toll roads. I ride a fully loaded Honda VTX 1300 S . Cholo style bagger with a custom 21" front wheel and a stage 1 mild tune. Mustang seat with sheepskin cover and back rest. I have tried a few styles of bike and found this totaly reliable 2 wheeled lounge chair to be absolutely to my liking in the way of...well everthing.....Not taking anything away from adventure bikes but I guarantee this lil lady will, and can do anything they can......Bold statement but It's fact.....Anyway ..at 76 years old I deserve a comfortable road trip. Thanks for a great vid.
Craig, I’m obviously not your friend (yet), and you’re not exactly the late Neil Peart - so I wouldn’t call myself your fan, but I almost got on my bike and drove the familiar miles north to Lake Superior several weeks ago for a chance at our paths intersecting. Alas, the aforementioned, too creepy, I’ll just drop this comment. Thank you for echoing my sentiments and reminding me to have that juice squeezed so it may run down my leg. Maybe I’m incorrectly recalling the precise words taken from Plant’s lyrics for the sake of not being too serious, but I really appreciate your content. This year I’ve had the chance to ride in the most impossible of storms testing my newly acquired Badlands Pro to its limits. So far I’ve been dry except my neck and wrists - but have soaked up what first rolled off. I’m so glad you’ve verified my investment was wise, as I don’t plan on having to buy again for at least a decade. May our paths someday cross! Jeremy in WI
Hey, no big deal most come with a upright handle, PLUS i guess she might have the same worries about you on a ride once again to Alaska, you 60......whatever, things happen, cagers, animals, weather, catastrophic mechanical, fatigue, their fault, your fault, no bodies fault. Dont cut the trip short on fears about nothing you can control. Call her and have her promise not to use it till you get home.
I'm 62, and currently have a '12 Fat boy Lo. and its okay, but, like you, I'm downsizing. I'm looking into the Suzuki V-strom 650, I read and seen reviews, everyone loves it! I been riding since 1982, and the fatboy is okay, but its over 600 lbs, and I want that Suzuki!! thank you , great video, any feedback would be appreciated.
I have been riding a Honda GL1200 for 7 years. Over 4,000 miles in the last 3 months. I want a Tiger. Rode one and loved it. My Wing has served me well and has over 100,000 miles on it. Big problem is the bike us just too hit in the summer. The big fairing holds the heat around me.
Choose your pain, and choose your joy. I and my good friend who I have done several moto trips always talk about how we both have a similar level of "enjoying the suffering" of the trip and that's why we travel so well together. Great video and topic. It reminds me of a quote I wrote down when listening to a talk from Mark Nepo (an excellent poet and writer if you don't know him). In the talk he said one of the great challenges of life Is learning to ask for what you need and having the grace to accept what you get.
I'm 67 and my Honda Reflex 250 and Helix 250 scooters are great, economical, and practical. I still have a 750 for Sunday rides. I also walk a few miles everyday (treadmill) and some light weight lifting.
Craig, this video just popped up Thursday morning, 7/11. As you hit day 30 with 20 to go, are you able to post a rough schedule of where you intend to find yourself in the last three weeks of your trip? Ned in SC Oh, crap! Just found out I am three videos behind the rest of the world!
I’am 78 4 to 5 days in the gym just so I can keep riding. 5-10 now lost an inch over the years weight 176 and feels good. I ride a Tiger 800 off road about 80% of the time. Although took a 185 mile ride this summer to Winthrop Wa, loved it. May do more of,this type of riding. Looking forward to seeing what you do for exercise in the gym. Good video.
Great vid and thanks for the clarification on the trail braking as I am constantly practicing my curves, I have my own made up mantra which helps, something like see it, lean (even just w/my head going towards the grip/inside of the turn) and push (counter steer), I do find if I get off my ass a little and lean forward this also improves the instant maneuverability of the Road Glide ST, not a small bike but still, a sport touring bike and high performance I feel. anyways, enough out of me thanks for all the reviews and vids, peace
While the comments about age in this video are factual, it's very much an individual thing. I'm 67 and ride a 2023 Goldwing on the freeway and love it. I am very aware of the vehicles around me and I try to stay away from cars, watch my mirrors, use the turn signal and pay attention to my surroundings. I trust no one. At this point, I see no reason to down grade. But here is my disclaimer. I have ridden police bikes for years and taken many motorcycle riding courses as an officer. I have also ridden a motorcycle since I was 16. My first bike was a Honda 360 that I rode to highschool everyday. I have always been into fitness and have my own well equipped home gym, and I use it. Staying fit and living healthy is the key to all of this. Safety is important as well. If you go down as an older rider it's going to hurt a lot more. So I ride with armor and a airbag vest. The Goldwing I bought has a airbag as well. Not saying any of that will prevent injury, but it likely will to some degree. Working out gets tougher the older you get. That is a fact. But If you love to ride the bike you have and don't want to downsize, then hit the gym. There are no short cuts. The only easy day was yesterday. Get out and ride.
Thank you for staying with us. Was nice meeting you and hearing about your adventures in Alaska. Safe travels and we hope to see you again. A Hyde Away Inn Tok Alaska
