Thanks for watching. 14 years! That’s a good history with a plane. I’ll never sell mine as long as I keep it greasy side down.. I’ve flown and flown in almost every bush plane up here, and I truly feel a properly set up maule is the best all around bush plane for what I do up here. Happy you enjoyed the video.
This must be Wup? I’ve surmised a fair bit of this planes past but more to figure out. You guys did do a great job on this build. It is still in really nice shape for being used daily now for work. Flown other maules and this one still outperforms. Thanks for putting this bird together. I’ll definitely be holding on to this for a long time.
Sadly I live in the UK where you cant even drive into the 'wilderness' and camp next to your car let alone fly so that looks like an amazing freedom you have there!
Where is the fish box in that lil thang?!! It looks like you can get to the spot, but how do you get the harvest home? Can you carry any weight out? Just curious...
Nothing like a boat, but it will haul an honest 1000 pounds in and out of 400 feet if the approach is good. Now I’ve packed fish, an entire moose, countless deer, but where I live, with so many bears, having a fabric airplane puts me on edge after flying around bear food all day. I’ve never seen a bear chew on aluminum…. You’ve got me on that one..
@@olivercoray I only have to deal with black bears in CO but I'm building a tube and fabric plane. Are you aware of any electric fence options that can help deter bears (black or griz)? Or is that not a practical solution?
@@Ko3n3k33 electric fences work well. Not fool proof but a good option. I have five, including a light weight backpacker one that runs off two D cell batteries and only weighs five pounds. I’ve watched many bears tap into them and run. I’ve also seen the walk right through if it’s dry and they don’t put their nose to it.
I believe they started to again. There are several factory new m7 with the 33’8” wing like mine now. They should all have that wing in my opinion. Just makes it a better plane. I touch down between 39-41 mph if not heavily loaded
Stall speed is about 37-38. Power on….Hard to say it gets pretty steep. But the 120” flaps allow me to land at almost a flat deck angle at 40 which is great for visibility over the nose, and makes cross winds easier with the tail up. The universal wing is great, but a little more is a little better. My plane is a pig, almost 1600 pounds..
With 35" bush wheels is cruises at 120 mph at 22 squared burning 11gph at altitude. 73 gallons of fuel total gives me pretty long legs. Flying longer trips I'll carry more fuel in airframes AK fuel bladders. Makes it a fairly versatile plane for Alaska.
@@kortiz3931 I believe my longest no wind take off with around a 1000 pound load was 350 feet. Thats all airplane, not skill. Sea level helps a lot too.
Pretty funny.... the video was a sub one hour project and the music was a result of “Animals” being at the top of the alphabetic list in my music library... next time I’ll give it to the B’s. :)
@@TrentonPalmer Well, I had a girlfriend who told me, "You just need to grow up a little." I said , How's that?" She said, " About 200 years." Maybe I'm just showing my age. Check out Jughead Councel's latest vid on the trip to Nebraska STOL. Now that's flying music. 😁
