I'm 70 and a little old for winter camping, but I love watching you , and remembering when Ilived in a cabin out on Kilchers road in Homer Ak.. I love your enthusiasm and how you give such good advice and pointers on bushcraft.

I like using zesty Italian salad dressing on my zucchini before grilling. looks a great meal.

My only experience as a camper, was many moons ago..as a 4 year den mom. I pack up 10 of those foil hobo-type meals..hamburger, new potatoes, mushrooms, onions, salt, pepper)..chocolate milk, s'mored, etc...ha. Those scouts are all grown up now with wives, families..but those memories are the best. I think I relive those crazy, wonderful camping trips by watching your wonderful, cheerful videos!! Thanks for sharing!! 🙋‍♀️

There are sooo many varieties of veggies that no one has ever heard of or tasted. We're down to a handful that work for the big growers.

I love to see all the beautiful country sites you show its awesome. Thanks Never been north of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina or Louisville, Kentucky, that's why I love the sites you show. You must be one of a kind youn women. I never seen anyone that loves to be out side camping, starting fires, canoeing and fishing all alone. It's great you don't have to have your husband around all the time and can do things on your own.

Wow! To be in Alaska and eat like that everyday!!! Long days of sun too! No wonder Alaskans live to be 500 years old! Wow!! :D

MMMM MMMM MMMM! Brings back memories of the Olympic Peninsula when I lived there in the 80's . Fresh salmon and steel head cooked over a campfire is hard to beat! I could taste that salmon all the way down here in Nebraska! Thanks for sharing kids! Good to see you!

The longer tomato looked like a beautiful Roma tomato. I love using them for sauces when canning due to the fact they have less seeds and water and more “meat” to them. Looking at that salmon makes my mouth water!!!

My son has been talking about living in AK for years. I've always been resistant...I don't like to be cold, but I don't like to be hot either. Yesterday, I told him that after my parents are gone ( they're 91 and 92), if he still wants to go to AK, I would be willing to do that. I just really want to get back to the land...grow my garden, forage wild veggies, maybe raise some poultry, do some fishing. Wherever he is, is home. I think he feels the same.

Btw OMG that salmon looks like heaven, I freaking love salmon, one of the most amazing fish in the world, such flavor and texture, had me drooling with that fillet on the grill with blackened seasoning 🤤🤤🤤

Those heirloom tomato's you can save the seeds, dry them out and grow them next season. The elongated tomatoes are Romas, and the blood red tomatoes are called Blood Veins. Excellent Video and great cookout.

Another great video. You can really find some really great treasures going to garage sales or estate sales and a treasure trove at thrift stores. I have found several cast iron pieces at a great price and also other items I can use for camping or at the apartment. The fish looked really tasty. You got some nice tomato's and the Zucchini reminded me of one I grew years ago. You keep up the great job you and your husband do and keep living your dreams.

We love heirloom tomatoes. People don't realize what they're missing by growing hybrids instead. We use dill, butter, and sometimes a little lemon on our salmon. We make blackened catfish and sometimes on other heartier flavored fish, but find that seasoning too overpowering for the delicate flavor of salmon. Everyone has their own favorites.

The tomatoes reminded me how much I love tomato sandwiches. Cheap white bread, no "fancy" breads, it's gotta be cheap white bread. Thin layer of mayonnaise, A very tiny bit of yellow mustard. Thick tomato slices. Salt to taste, optional pepper. That's it, eat and enjoy :> Y'all could use a small hothouse or high tower greenhouse to grow your own vegetables there.

That salmon and zucchini look delicious. There is no comparison between a home grown and store bought tomato. You scored!

Life is gooder than good. :) The knife is an awesome gift.... a treasure to those who know. Where the heck have I been....the cabin....how awesome. Is this the same property you put the wall tent on? The zukes.... heck yea. Being from Louisiana we blacken pretty much anything and everything. I salt water fish a good bit and love catching reds...nothing like blackened redfish. Will make you throw rocks at a steak. When I blacken....my kids and grand children line up for their piece...then line up again....and again. I think part of the charm of blackened is cooking it outside on the burner in cast iron....super hot olive, oil bursts into flame when the fillet is dropped in. Enjoyed the video Brooke.

OMG I love the sound of crackling wood 🔥, it's absolute magic,l I went to zaleski state forest last weekend and did a two day one night backpacking camp, had a nice fire at night and the next morning, lol I'm an assistant lead where I work and my lead, she kept complaining about the smell of my jacket hanging on my chair in the office, I kept laughing and saying, that's wood smoke, best cologne in the world🤣🤣🤣

There's nothing better than fresh salmon!! My mouth is watering. The grate you are cooking on is actually a portable step for a camper. I have one I use but it does make a great grill. Might have to find a new step!!!

Awesome! If you'll put your zucchini in aluminum foil then put the butter and spices on it, the aluminum foil will hold in the spices and it will cook better in absorbing the butter on the grill, same way that you cooked your fish. Love love love your videos!

So much for timeline continuity lol love it though and there's snow on the ground and it's been between 10-20° for the last week or more, so it makes a nice change of scenery.

Zucchini slices, dredged in egg and rolled in 1/2 flour, 1/2 cornmeal mixture. Love trout the same way. I also chop zucchini and onion, add an egg and the mixture into a batter, fry as fritters....James

Cool leather craft book I just bought some leather scraps and some tools. That knife reminds me of an old Hickory knife. Man I love smoked salmon and baked salmon with lemons and bacon on it. Back in the 70s my dad and uncle took us north of Seattle and just on the other side of the Canadian boarder to charter a fishing boat out into the ocean and man it was rough water I got sick but not before I caught one salmon it was only 13 pounds a baby. My brother and my dad caught much bigger ones 30 and 40 pounders. We had some of them canned and some of them we baked. I love fresh salmon.

They are Roma tomatoes, which San Marzano are a brand one. The Romas you can use for tomato paste and sauce, salsa, pico, I use them in guacamole. Romas are good, fewer seeds aren't as juicy so you can use them in recipes. Thanks you guys for todays video
