Marvellous! 👏👏👏 Don’t care much for the cold, at least my cranky old body doesn’t, but winter is oftentimes very pretty. Finding your way to ol’ Dick Proenneke will enrich your life. I found some old vhs with him about fifteen years ago or so, “Alone in the wilderness”, and I can’t remember how many times I have watched it. I have drawn so much inspiration and joy from watching the documentary’s, both by and about him. Quite the character and to me he’ll always be the depiction of my own dreams of how my life would have been if I could have gotten my own bit of off grid wilderness living. It also sparked my attempts at survival of my own and it followed me through many fine years of working as an adventure guide and teaching outdoors. I wish you much joy with ol’ Dick there. End of oversharing. 😇
Thanks for watching enough to hear me talk about him. Steve Ross told me about him 2 years ago and I just never looked him up. Reading the book about him now. Well, it's his journal.
@@paintwithbram watching without listening is half a loss to me. Besides, you’re pretty funny sometimes and you splurt out so much teachings that it would be crazy for me as a human painter not to listen. I’ve never read Dicks journal, never read anything either by or about him actually. I’ve only read of and about him in different places on the internet. That journal must be jam packed with interesting and cool stuff. I bet it doesn’t say much about where the gold was and how much he found though. 😁 Having had it up to my neck with “people”, “stuff” and “the man” several times in life I should have done like Dick and started packing instead. I wouldn’t oppose you mentioning something from the journal if you find something especially worth sharing or interesting in general. (Don’t spoil it for anyone though.) Why don’t you paint his little piece of heaven up there by the lake sometime!? With the mountains, the buildings, the canoe and maybe even Dick toiling away with his shores. 🥰
I can't use the oil paint's that you use i have to use water mixable oil's and i use about 50% w/m zinc white and linseed oil due to my illness and i only need to use water and soap
