I was born and raised on the east side of Albany . I’ve never been scared to walk around in these neighborhood. the west has the worst hood title now with all the shooting.
I was in Albany, GA about three years ago with Team Rubicon , about six months after Hurricane Michael came through. Met some nice people there. The old Coke Plant was our base of operations.

Yeah, they trim it to keep branches from touching the power lines, and it ends up looking like an ugly, exotic tree. They do that around us, too, though most aren't as bad that one.
My mom lived somewhere called sugarfoot Georgia and no delivery or even 911 would come! Called the police the first time someone was killed on her front lawn they told her to stay inside cause ain’t NOBODY coming out there at night. And if it was really that bad to WALK closer in the direction of the police station and they’d meet her at a safe enough distance.
There are a lot more neighborhoods in the surrounding areas of Albany. People here are trying to live and enjoy life just like the rest of the world. l should know lm part of this community nearby
I'm from there and he's filming in east Albany, which for some reason has always been the part of town not being developed by the city. However, there are other parts that are very decent.
Honestly the east side is the safer side these days. Never really hear much going on over there. Now the south side seems to be where the killers and bangers stay. The west and north sides are getting bad too!
Why would someone want to develop in an area where they know it’ll go to shit. The way you asked the question tells me that you blame the city, State Government for people living shitty lives.
I grew up poor there west/central on Whitney ave in the 70s walked to school magnolia elementary. Don't remember any crime. Zillow says that house was built in the 1940s and worth $30k now. Still remember when Albany Mall opened in 76 with that jingle on tv "76 great stores in the Albany Mall" and me and my sisters and friends walked to it. Neat to see charlie finally driving thru one of my towns.
Sadly the poverty and crime are compliments of the local, state and federal politicians. So sad to see people struggling while we are sending billions of dollars to foreign countries.
They're struggling because they want to there are Help Wanted signs at every business some businesses are closing and surrounding counties are having the same issue people don't want to work they are waiting on the 1st and 15th let's be honest it's a generational thing here.

If by peaceful you mean empty - then yeah, peaceful. The reason would be it is too dangerous to go out and people prefer to stay indoors. Check out the crime stats to see how peaceful it is.

Ride to Double Gate and let people see our entire city, ride Northwest, Southwest, The Westside it’s hoods in every city and you ride pass bethel apartments ride inside them if your going to depict the worse hoods… looks like you just drove pass old houses…worse hoods and no one shot at you! There are no more rich people in Albany Georgia The rich black peoples maybe But the white flight took the real money with them. At one time Albany had a great work Environment With several big companies in the community but because of the crime and slums the real money has evacuated the community and all The community use to be able to work Merck Lilliston McGregor Turner Air Force base Chairmen Proctor and Gamble MCLB Albany Miller Firestone tire plant Cooper tire Now just P&G MCLB Miller That’s all that’s left to Support the town. The city is death bed and it’s not going to come back anytime soon if ever. Sanford Bishop has been elected so many times over the past 40 years and he has done nothing but put money in his pockets taken from the people and destroyed the beautiful town I use to love The people who live there just don’t care about the town Used and abused Jefferson street going to the only hospital in town is filled with potholes and broken pavement if you are riding in an ambulance it’s going to be a ruff day Sad
That lets you know where they need to put some of the city money. I lived off Carroll St and it didn't look that way. There are other areas in Albany have gone down. The City has the money fix it up again.
One thing I know in two things for show Albany we can beat up each other all day long but when another city come starts sometimes we going to stick together 💙
Albany and Columbus are considered rural cities in Georgia not “country” rural but rural as in desolate because they are so far from other cities and no major highways run through them and nobody in Georgia talks about them that much ….
Albany, sure. Not Columbus though. It's the third largest city in GA after ATL and Augusta. Almost 200,000 people live in Columbus, and it's connected to an Interstate (I-185) Fort Benning is one of the larger Military bases in the country too. Columbus isn't rural. I will say even though Columbus is 3rd largest and Macon and Savannah are 4th and 5th, they feel more "urban"
Wow this city has went down. It looks the same or worse as it did over forty years ago when I left. Same houses, roads and infrastructure not up to par. The last time I was in Albany I rode down Roosevelt near the old Coke building and my former employer North American/Security Moving Company and tore up the front end of my car because of those deep ass pot holes in the road. I do miss the city, we had so much fun in Albany back in the seventies and early eighties. What happened?
PLEASE try to get some of these people to let you film in their house. I can't help but wonder what the inside of some of these places look like. Like that little blue house near the railroad tracks. WTF does the living conditions inside look like? I want to see into the hoods real life. Not just the outside and ppl standing on the street
Been in most everyone of them doing ac work in Albany for years as a white man I have never been more welcomed in the hoods of Albany never have had a problem there are plenty of good people in Albany but lot of bad as well like anywhere

I’ve lived here all my life. Though I don’t live in the “ghetto” in Albany. I did a bunch of construction work and house maintenance in “hoods”. Family’s here are more willing to cook you dinner then wealthy white families. I filled a little girls bike tire with air and within a week she got shot in a drive by shooting. Sometimes you can’t believe it and other times you aren’t surprised. Love and hate this place.
Honestly the city isn’t all that bad, but there aren’t many opportunities, and if you really don’t have a good education the best jobs you’d have are two chicken plant jobs that are about an hour outside of the city in Moultrie and Camilla, Georgia. To say the least, Albany is a town you’ll have to finish high school, or just get on your feet quick and leave. Definitely not a place to grow old in, it’s dull and boring. Some will like it, some won’t.🤷🏿♂️
People have been forced to view LA hoods for the last 30 years through rap videos and movies ...I think people want to see other cities instead of LA's all the time ..
As someone who was born and raised here. I’m honestly shocked to see so many people defending Albany and trying to say it’s not as bad as this video makes it out to be. Excuse me? This is 80% of Albany. Trying to use Double Gate or any gated community as a reason Albany isn’t all bad is ridiculous. Sure, there are some amazing houses. Being owned solely by the rich. Or rented out at $2,500 a month. This is the reality of Albany for the common person. Even public places like Turtle Park are being invaded by aggressive homeless people. Taking up all seating areas. I had one curse me out the other day and tell me to “Get the f*ck back to white town.” That literally is not a dramatization. As someone born and raised here, if you are from Albany and trying to say this isn’t accurate. Be real with yourself, or maybe drive around a little bit more.
man i grew up on the south, east and west side of albany it just them younger generation thats doing all the shooting trust me i know a few til this day but the eastside of albany is home so its not that bad just who you hangout with that gives albany a bad name.
