Every city has hood in it, some look different, some look better, Some look worse, But for somebody to call a place they never been to before "Nice" "Soft" Etc is pretty much spitting on the bodies of people who loss their lives to gun violence there, aswell as people struggling, Living in projects and motels Etc
You're absolutely right....I can understand why someone would say it looks "nice" though. Decatur has torn down the projects. I used to live on Glenwood Rd just past Candler and looks can be deceiving for sure. I lived out there when the folks were killed at Shoal Creek park during Glenwood Day
People not from the south see the trees and beautiful nature and think...oh it’s so nice. Even our projects used to look nicer then say up north PJs....buuuuut many have made that fatal mistake thinking things sweet. Respect wherever you go
Moved to ATL in 2007… found out about “undercover hoods” for sure! Up North it’s plain and simple when it comes to spotting the type of neighborhood you’re in. Down here not so much!
Pimp City off of McAfee There used to be a Pizza Hut, Burger King, Payless, KMart, and Taco Bell on Glenwood. I used to wash my cars at Glenwood and Glenmar The bowling Alley was a cool spot to be in. Playa Playa whistling and yelling OKAAAYYYY McDonald’s was on Glenwood and Columbia Wayfield used to be Fred’s super value Decatur will always be my home...🤘🏾
R.i.p playa playa 107 i spent so much money in that bowling alley that was my spot i was in that bitch all day every day hell i knew everyone who used to work there great times
Been living in ga 20yrs lived in four of the counties except Gwinnett county I lived in Covington ga and Tyrone ga as well...I know all of DeKalb county when I first moved to ga from Baltimore I lived in Dunwoody GA five points shows you how segregated Atlanta is..which has the most black ppl in America living here...#blackhollywood I love ATL
I just moved outta Decatur. I lived there 10 years. I recognize every street you on. Its not hood. Just alot of us Africa Americans live there in the areas where u riding.
I moved there to get away from Newark. Nice place overall. It has its part as do every other place. Thought It was country when I first moved down cause the area I was in had no sidewalks. Lol
67 yr. old white guy.. I know these neighborhoods. I'm comfortable going into stores. Gone through drive thru at McDonald's, Candler Rd. Family Dollar on Glenwood. I shop all the time at Walmart and Kroger on Memorial. Ate lunch multiple times at This Is It. Vine City is hood. This is neighborhood.
Couldn't tell if the last neighborhood was Misty Valley or Tulip Dr but grew up on Tulip Pl/Aldea Dr and Tulip Dr/Hollyhock Ter and I remember when it was getting bad over there in the 90s which is why we moved to Ellenwood. Childhood memories
I moved from Clayton to Dekalb..I stayed off memorial. I worked at Emory for a while and went through some nasty hoods. Wth is going on in the A. Cobb was safe back then but now...sad!
@@jamfamily4287 Lol..I kept hearing Cobb Parkway was off the chain now..My friend moved to Powder springs I heard the cleaned up Blvd..near ATL med ctr...I was scared as hell driving to work. Sad we have to fear our own people..smh
some parts in Ga. around Douglas that are basically unbelievable! Dirt roads no windows or doors on the houses and people living in them! No electric!!!
My mom from Decatur and I was vistiting wit my grandma from atl, she took me to see hers and my mom childhood home. I’m frm Florida do idk a whole lot abt ga hoods, but knowing atl I thought my grandmas was gonna be way worse. It was bad but when she took me to my moms childhood home there was shots in the McDonalds menu, looked way worse then atl. My moms hood is the first one with the McDonalds in front of it
I remember buying weed down there off of covington in 1982 down a hilly road to a fork in the road with a big tree in the middle bro's were always there
So I moved to Decatur from Charlotte NC. Yeah this place has some challenges. I will never understand why people want to live In trash. If you see trash pick it up. You can be poor but doesn’t mean u should have trash all around you. Communities would rather complain then to clean it up. Yeah I agree it’s not your job but guess what waiting on the government to come do it for u is a joke. Clean up Georgia this could be a beautiful place. All I see as trash everywhere.
Candler Rd/Glenwood definitely hood I've been back fr a year now ❤️ someone got killed this summer at that exon one body was found in the middle of the street and one was at the front door of the gas station I never stop at that G station Austin Ave
Decatur is kind of wild on certain main road areas, but is kind of rural once you venture off the main roads. The sides streets look really country in some areas Atl has it all from urban areas to areas that also seem country.
Springlake dr and Columbia dr was my blocks, autozone was on the corner fish restaurant across the street, neals paint shop and krogers across from checkers, drive up liquor store, park right done the hill projects right there, i miss ATL

What Makes This Area The Hood, Other Than The Fact That You're Driving Over The Speed Limit In Their Community??? Are You Sure, You're Not One Of Those "Drive-By Shooters???
I was born and raised there. It’s not as dangerous as it once was. 2012-2016 was when niggas where really baggin. They say summer 19 finna b bloody cuz bunch of gang member died recently but I doubt it.
