Aametrii Graham I agree just v watching this I feel for Albany tornado victims, I can tell these men are scared reporting the news and trying not to panic
Andrew Gorton was a good weatherman. We all miss him. I live in west Albany Ga. and the tornado was headed my way but diverted to the south and missed us. Thanks Chris and Andrew for keeping everyone up to date..
While Georgia get its fair share of tornados, we don’t get as many as the other states in tornado alley (Ga is outside of tornado alley). And thankfully, it’s pretty uncommon to get the big EF4 monsters that you typically see in OK & MO. After this, I remember seeing a Dollar General store that had totally been destroyed. Normally in Ga, you’re fairly safe if you’re in a well-built structure such as a store or a brick house (a Google search tells me most brick homes can withstand an EF2 and remain mostly intact). Falling trees would potentially do more damage than the actual twister itself. But not in this monster.
They were really on their job! They took it very seriously, because it was VERY SERIOUS. We were deep into the game, but When they said it was heading toward South Albany, I knew it was coming. Than the the TV went off, next the lights, than it got really really crazy! Never seen, heard, experienced anything like this in my life!
The four fatalities on the county line seem to have occurred in or near mobile homes at 3:36 pm. Prior warnings include the SPC high risk, a PDS Tornado Watch 21 issued at 12:45 pm effective until 8pm, and a Tornado Warning for areas southwest issued at 2:38 pm. It's a tough decision, but leaving the mobile home for a substantial structure is important. EF1 tornadoes can flip them, and it only takes an EF2 to destroy it. Good work helping people make these important decisions!
