not really. Philosophers like David Hume and Immanuel Kant made sense of reality on a much much higher level than Einstein did, and what they did was actually much more complex.

@@jupphainkas3070 hard to elaborate in a youtube comment, but I will try....:-) so when scientists like Einstein do science they are already presupposing certain things to be true or to be reality. But philosophy questions these very presuppositions...science presupposes philosophical notions, but these notions themselves are beyond the scope of science. Structures of consciousness, the a priori categories of thought, what constitues substance and nature... Kant, for example, studies the very conditions that allow for experience (time, space, causality, etc), but science takes these for granted and almost always does not even address them.... In my observations, the best scientists have done philosophy, and vice versa. All the best.

But didnt Einstein do the same - at least at a rudimentary level - when he insisted that "god doesnt roll dice" in a dispute whith some famous quantum physicists? I think this was meant as a critique towards these scientists believeing so strongly in their theories that they (in the eyes of Einstein) started to ignore what their apparatuses - they could be seen as an extent of one's senses - measured?

What a legend Albert Einstein was. And so humble and sweet! I often wonder what A.E. could have done using the computers, etc., that we take for granted... I mean this guy had his enormous intelligence and his slide ruler to do all that math!! So amazing, really!

Actually, strangely enough, Einstein wasn't really a great mathematician. He needed a friend of his to help him with the necessary math involved in his theory of general relativity.

"Monarch of the mind". You bet! It still amazes me how someone could even visualize that space and time are the same fabric which bends and curves in presence of mass/energy. He's the reason why, as a teenager, I got interested in physics which otherwise seemed so boring. He made science more interesting than science fiction.
