Knowing God is in the top 3 books outside of Scripture that I have ever read, truely a blessing. J I Packer along with RC Sproul are two of the greatest theologians of our time. Thank you brother Packer and thank you Lord for raising up mighty men of faith like Dr.Packer to bless the assembly of believers with words that only a God gifted wordsmith such as he can articulate. Amen and Amen
Thanks Dr. Mohler for sharing these memories of J.I. Packer. It made me want to read Knowing God again and some of the other books that you mentioned. And to those that are giving this a thumbs down... seriously?
Thank you for sharing your personal memories of Dr. Packer. I never had the opportunity to meet him which has been very disappointing for me since he has played such an important role in my own Christian formation. I continue to be grateful for the great gift that Dr. Packer has been and will continue to be to the Church and I do plan on meeting him one day!
My husband & I were blessed to study at Trinity Theological College in Bristol in the 70s. At that time dear Jim Packer was Associate Principal. We are thankful not only for his teaching but for every sweet memory of him.
Christian living in Petersburg here.Ex Evangelical now Orthodox and Catholic. What a great man J .I.Packer was.Rest in Peace.Kyrie Ellison.A great servant of the Lord.
Thanks Dr. Mohler, Ji packer truly emersed himself in Puritans infact He is a Puritan a very very rare breed these days, what a blessing His pen has been to Christiandom, Only Lord can create such rare mix of His image, Glory to our Lord
Mohler's attempt to cover up his real hair color is about as convincing as his attempt to cover up the corruption and evil in his heart. He should emulate Packer by becoming a Christian.
It should be a reminder to all that are saved by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, that as we will experience seasons in life, SIN cut so deep that going into golden years many things may change. Our cognitive, thinking and motor skills may deteriorate over time.
Edward Hutcheson There is no such thing as “roman” Catholic. Nowhere in any official document of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church will you find the Church addressing Herself with that title. Like most Protestants, you must know very little authentic Church history. That title was invented In the 1500s by the Anglicans.
