Not sure what that means. I will point out that Peter Lougheed set up the Alberta Heritage Fund when he was Premier. And, if you adjust for inflation, there is less money in that fund today than there was when Lougheed stepped down as Premier in 1986. All these years they could have been building up that fund. Instead it was more important to be the one Province without a Sales Tax. And the Province with the lowest Income Taxes. And the Province with the lowest Corporate Tax rates, in the hope that Head Offices would be moved from Toronto to Calgary. It didn't work. Now we face the crisis of Global Warming, and the principal concern of Albertans is to make sure that we go on burning as much oil, gas, and gasoline as possible. If somebody has a better way of reducing Carbon than a Carbon Tax, I'm happy to hear it. But, the idea that the welfare of working Canadians depends on Carbon emissions is a lie. Heat pumps? Even with the rebates the initial costs are high, rebates don't hit your pocket instantly and that's just scratching the surface. Renters can't just up and install one, landlords can choose to do this and probably use it as a feature to validate an increase on rent. Then there is the issue of efficiency, I had a heat pump when I was a homeowner on the East Coast - we have surprisingly mild winters on the south shore of NS, and a heat pump there only works well above zero, and around -10 it becomes necessary to have a secondary source of heat. With a fire in the basement and the heatpump at 18° I could heat to a balmy 15° in -10 or below. We used sweaters and blankets because I refused to use the baseboard heaters and pay the extra $ to the NS Power monopoly. Seeing as most of Canada is below -10 for most of the winter... this is not the solution. What about EVs? I know I certainly can't afford one, as a renter I also have no where to charge one. I can barely afford gas but sure, I'll go finance an EV with these current insane interest rates 😂

To say there were NONE and now there are some, and that’s it’s because of climate change/recent carbon emissions……and that it’s a NEW phenomenon is misinformation to push your agenda. Look it up. 8 of 10 get more money back when you only look at their personal purchase of gasoline at a pump and their household utilities. THE PROBLEM with this calculation is that you exclude that this tax also causes EVERYTHING else to go up (except wages) in price COSTING US MORE. WHY? Because this tax is any fossil fuel usage in Canada. You think the grocery store is just going to absorb the increase in keeping the lights on? or how about the self employed truck driver that delivered to that store... that's only 2 increases right there that will pass on to the consumer and that's barely the icing on the cake.

Now imagine we have new Tec to lower our emissions we can make our needs here in Canada not relying on other countries. For the record when people say the carbon tax will "cost just about 3cents more" kindly note the exact amount is 3.3cents. Not sure why everyone is rounding it down as it will add up. The cost is currently $0.1431/L and the new price April is $0.1761/L. Based on my last fuel stop that means carbon tax accounts for 10.40% of my fuel cost (regular). If fuel inputs remain as-is then fuel costs increases by 2.17% from the tax. Need to look back at heat bills. I will crunch the numbers but just between heat and fuel I will pay more than I receive and that just to live as I work from home. Imagine those who drive everyday to work, do trips during the summer and then the usual daily travels for essentials... Canada accounts for 1.5% of the world's emissions.
