Even 27 years ago I just hope she didn't struggle in vain inside the car. Hopefully she'd lost consciousness before she drove off the road. Such a sad lonely way to perish and the family didn't know for sure until now. Icy roads near water are my driving nightmare.

The sense of relief to the family of the missing woman must have been overwhelming! To know for certain that their beloved family member had died in a naturally occuring road accident and that no criminal act against them was involved would bring huge relief. Very Well Done to the Diver that discovered the wreck and reported it to the Police. His actions have helped to ease their grief by answering the questions that had troubled them for the past 27 years.

@Stop the BS I'm talking about an old skewl all steel frame vehicle prob not quite 4 ton but in the 80s cars were a lot heavier made out of all steel. Now cars are mostly made out of plastic and material that absorbs impact and is lighter weight. I would not want to be in an all steel frame vs steel frame accident nor a steel frame vs newer frame ouch.

I thought that too. If an elderly friend or relative vanished along with her car I'd walk or bike every mile of her route. Even if she fell asleep and there weren't any skid marks you'd think there'd be torn up ground, etc.

This is amazing. Near where I live back in the early 1990s, we had a severe drought and a lake dried up and an old car was found. It turned out to be two woman who went missing in the 1950s who were in the car. They missed the turn in the road and went into the lake so many years before.

Really an amazing story. I feel so bad for families of missing persons. It must be so hard to continue on not even knowing for sure if your loved one is dead or alive. Such a long distance she was traveling, would have been nearly impossible to search the hundreds of kilometers/miles she had traveled. Glad they at least have some questions answered.

My heart goes out to the Family of this Woman. I can't imagine what her final moments were like and I hope she finally has peace knowing her Loved Ones are not wondering any longer and that it brings peace to the Family to finally know what happened.

I've seen a more detailed video about this. They believe she just swerved for some reason, like drowsiness or wildlife. The stone edge of the road was built later I believe was said, so there was nothing to catch the vehicle.

How sad for the victims family. Their mother suddenly disappears one day and they spent 27 years agonizing over where she is and what might have happened to her and possibly holding out for a miracle only to find out that she actually did pass away... in a horrible way. So sad.

the fact it took them 3 days to go dive on this car after it was reported never ceases to amaze me. the mounties should have had someone at the lake immediately, not 3 days later. i saw this story on tv some time back. i will never forget it.

I imagine that's actually quite a relief as a family member. No doubt your mind would come up with some truly horrible scenarios of why she might be missing. Probably wouldn't have expected an accident by this point.

I am sure you brought at least comfort in knowing their loved one was deceased and not living a double life, abandoned her family or all the other cruel thoughts that occupy your mind trying to make sense of it all. Hopefully they investigate and find the reason she was found there, and if by a person, be able to prosecute them. You did a great thing, and I wish you a fruitful and happy life, whether in law enforcement or otherwise.
