Walked home with my girlfriend at the time cuz we had no ride, was on the home stretch with a bag of my remaining beers and my roadie when 2 cruisers coming towards us lit up the lights. Threw the bag and my roadie instantly (don’t know why exactly not like public intoxication is a thing at 3am on a country backroad) they turn around and pull up first cop hops out shines the light in my face and yells “what did you just throw in the ditch?” “fuck” I say to myself *facepalm* “beer”. “We’ll go get it then”, they talk to my girlfriend and ask her the usual “are you safe, are you actually dating, is he holding you against your will” no was her answer of course lol. The second cop shines the light in my face and says “Mr. Akerfeldt”. *facepalm*2.0 yessir I tell the officer who turned out to be one of the cops stationed at my highschool (dedicated fight school). I told them the story yall just read and they laughed and asked “will you let us drive you home” literally lived a kilometre down the road. I answered “PLEASE” cuz my legs were so tired and I was still probably outta breath. Mom and dads reaction seeing a cop car pull up and my girlfriend and I hop out uncuffed like an Uber ride on the camera was a funny story to tell!

@Kieran Lol, why would i lie about something like that? I've got years and years experience with drinking and alcoholics. I'm actually a Navy veteran, sailors are well known for their drinking and other crap. Alcohol brings out what's already inside the character. Alcohol is an easy scape goat, but eventually alcoholics needs to deal with themselves. It's not easy but it's doable.

Officer Olson. I started watching these vids yesterday afternoon and this is the second one I've watched with him. The other one was with the boyfriend who decided to play hero when his snuggle tooth girlfriend was getting handcuffed.

At 6;25 the kid says "I've done nothing wrong and you can't prove I've done nothing wrong." The cop responds "yes we can which is why you are in cuffs." The kid then responds "okay...then prove it and charge me." The cop then says "we're working on that" Now, that's the first lie. First the cop says they can prove it, then he says they are working on it. The kid then says "I would like to see my lawyer" ....(there is then a gap in the audio) and ends with "prove you guys wrong." The cop then says 'we can work on that.' The kid says AGAIN 'then charge me and put me in jail." The kid then mentions his lawyer again but the audio cuts in and out. Now, to a man like ME who has been in politics for years and has actually held elected legislative office, the kid, although drunk, was clearly exercising his right to remain silent and asked to be taken and and he wants his lawyer. He just did it in a confusing way. The courts generally have a VERY liberal view when it comes to remaining silent and asking for a lawyer. But the cop decides to ignore the 4th and 5th amendments and rights and says to the kid 'who's your lawyer is he good?'' To which the kid rightly replies 'that don't matter WHO my lawyer is.' The cop then asks 'do you HAVE a lawyer' and the kid replies 'oh yeah.' The kid just stated he is represented. The convo should have stopped right there. At 7:25 the kid then says "I'm gonna have my lawyer. That's my phone call." The cop says at 7:34 'I'll tell you what when you get to jail you can ask them for that phone call if you want to keep going this route.' What route was he talking about? Exercising his right to want his lawyer which was making the cop mad? Now, remember, he has now THREE TIMES indicated he wants his lawyer. But at 8:08 the cop says 'okay; if you're not gonna tell us what happened, we're gonna talk to everyone else if you don't want to speak.' That's a threat. It was only after the other cop shows up that he tells the other cop to just charge him and bring him in. You bet your sweet bippy I'm not joking!

I'm going to give him the benefit of doubt and assume he was blackout drunk. He probably doesn't act like that when sober. Still no excuse of course, but I've seen it happen to some inexperienced college-age drinkers.

Not sober, but I used to drink almost every day. So, I drink much less now. Only on Friday or Saturday and only drink at home or a friend's house. Used to get into stupid shit all the time. Next step is quit completely.

I just wonder if his gf and been drinking also. The witness say the assault consisted of him "grabbing his gf by the shoulders and shaking her" and as a result she busted the dudes nose. Imagine if it was a drunk couple with the woman getting her nose busted open by the BF just because she was "grabbing his shoulders and shaking him" As a recovering alcoholic with an ex who was also an acholic, grabbing her when she got violent and just hugging her so she couldn't punch was the only thing i could do. Unless were outside and i could walk/ sometimes jog away. If you are a dude.. do not ever get this drunk with women by yourself. Or allow a woman to get this drunk in front of you, go home or tell her to leave if she is drinking too much. or you might be in situation like this guy. Even if she is the aggressor, its a lose lose for you as a dude And I swear some women fully understand that and will have a total blast taking advantage of it.
