I watched a review of the $25, 4-piece Toaks titanium pot stand. Nice bit of gear but expensive and doesnt have built-in pot supports. So I wanted to make a modular windscreen/pot stand that is all-in-one. This is the "build" video where I show you how to make one. A second, shorter follow up on burn test and an important modification is also posted.

It worked perfectly and actually didn't damage the chisel. Even made a slight partial fold which helped assembly. Didn't think it would do much harm. Tool steel vs aluminum flashing. JB weld will degrade with heat. Your pot will fall off if you heat it long enough. It's better to use rivets.

I agree. You are the only person who has caught that. JB is only good to 500F. Alcohol burns at 2x+ that temp. I'm going to add pop rivets and do an updated video. Thanks for commenting and watching.

Pretty cool idea. We definitely need a windscreen, and this is light weight.

Yes, made of aluminum flashing it's very lightweight. There is always a tradeoff - weight VS strength. Unless you use titanium! Don't have any in my garage. I'm going to post an update; adding pop rivets to secure the pot stand tabs. Concerned that theJB Weld can fail over time because of the high heat. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers.

Just watched a video of how to build this alcohol burner wind screen/pot supporter and love it.....I was getting ready to build one from one I saw on another channel and wa-la....I came across yours....and I do appreciate you and now have subscribed to your channel....and I thank you and I'll let ya know how it works out....

only found this today and sent an email for the plans, what a great idea I only hope I can make one as nice as yours. I really like the idea of the modular system as it allows you to be able to change pot sizes easily. Great instructional video. take care and stay safe

Good job, looks practical. 6:27 - Cut a small "V" in the top of the groove on the tab, so when using the pot weight press the wire triangle against this 'V" and lock in the centre. And your DIY stove? ;)
