Thanks for waiting! And welcome to the second edition of our Metropolitan Line cab ride series, this time covering the line to Uxbridge. Similar to last time, the video features graphics and captions with little fun facts as we go along, and, although this is the last cab ride we have recorded we should have more on the way soon!
Unfortunately, due to issues currently out of our control, a blank version without graphics won’t be available for now.
Please do not ask about how we obtained this cab ride or if we could get you one, your best bet is to email TfL directly. And, do not try to access any areas where you are not authorised to do so.

Spotted myself waiting to board this train at Farringdon! Wearing a blue polo shirt carrying a black bag at the end of the platform. Travelled to Ruislip Manor. A daily trip back to home.

@@thechilterntrainspotters Thank you so much for this video. Thanks also for the informative captions(!) I used to travel this line in the 1950s. As a youngster of 12, I would set out with a packed lunch and ride all over the LT network. It was safe for a lad to go adventuring on his own then. I could write a book of reminiscences, I think. Well, a long short story anyway. Thanks again for an excellent production. I look forward to more! From Alberta, Canada.

Most probably the best quality video cab train ride, I’ve ever seen. And unlike some cab train rides… at least there’s sound to it. I’ve never ever been on a tube / met train before…… going through London’s underground system; So…. taking this particular cab ride gives me a good impression of what it’s like travelling through all of these stations dotted all the way around London. Monday afternoon at 17:09H. 19th October 2021. U.K. Southampton

Wonderful stuff !!! This is a line I travelled often when I lived in Harrow in the 50's, with Baker Street one of my favourite haunts (when the Bakerloo line ran all the way to Watford) and also Uxbridge particularly for the Trolleybuses, the bus garage and Red Central area and Green Country buses. Happy Days !

Have used most of this line in my time. Used to live along the parallel road between Finchley Road and West Hampstead. Used to use it to Barbican for work, but occasionally had to work in Uxbridge so used all the rest of it. One day, remember us moving onto Kings X, but by the time the doors opened, I saw people looking down at me. I had fainted and was flat on my back. Was helped up and onto the platform. Sat down for a couple of trains, then continued my journey.

Love your videos thanks you for uploading and sharing. Not being London (or near) born one of my greatest delights on visiting the capital is riding on the tube, it doesn't really matter where to but I am suddenly a small boy again (in my 60's now!) Each time I visit I try to go somewhere different on a different line just for the experience. To Londoners the tube is nothing special of course, just an everyday facility.

Was in two minds when they were to replace the A60 stock because it was the last of the creepy underground trains, where it had no announcements for each stop. Was always enamoured with how far out it went. London always was a closed off sort of place so any mode of transport that steps outside of London was always interesting. Thank you for this. Former Londoner now in East Mids
@robtyman4281
@robtyman4281 10 месяцев назад
You do know the main reason why they announce the next station on the route, is for the benefit of blind or visually impaired people who will not be able to see when it is their station. It's not really for you and I (capable of seeing). Similarly the on train displays telling you what the next station will be, are principally for deaf people who can't hear announcements.

What do you mean you see no people? You'll see thousands of people waiting for the train at all the stations you stop at! If you mean no interaction, then thats the same for any train driver all over the world. Personally, I'd love it. I'd love to be a tube train driver, cos I adore and love the tube and to work on the ATO lines where you just sit there and being paid £50k a year to press 2 buttons to close the doors!!!... But unfortunately my disability prevents me.

Where you identify each station with the traditional-style "roundall" sign, I would apply some animation here so the sign fades in spinning clockwise but in one spot(stationary), then exiting the screen by spinning out anti-clockwise as it moves off screen to the left.

I was trying to work out where the Chiltern mainline actually diverged off to the left, as it wasn't captioned. It's just after passing through Neasden, around 27:00, while the LU depot access also diverges to the right.

At 27:54 Was this signal a RMG 71 because of the number of the main signal after the repeater (MG 71)?

On the section that's now CBTC (Aldgate to Finchley) does anyone have an idea what the speed limits are or used to be?

Oh tunnels , why you so dark? I yearn for the same light as the Paris Metro videos. Oh carriages , why your headlights so dim?

Interesting when the train stops between stations the driver has to repress the ATO start buttons. On the Jubilee line you don’t need to press anything when stopped between stations

Why are there no tunnel lights? Here in NYC all the tunnels are lighted. We also have multi level tunnels. Do you have the same?

Do the Piccadilly and Met randomly use any of the three tracks at Uxbridge, or is the Piccadilly always on the south side, as I've seen it this time ? Aarre Peltomaa
