terrible comments here. He was 30 here and has a splendid yet difficult voicetype as a heavier tenor. He sings ok here and now he is all around the world while you are on youtube commenting.

I heard him at the MET. No acting no harizma, voice completely in the noise. Where despaired great singers and who is putting this people on the stage. True opera lovers are in shock!!They think if they put great settings on the stage, public will love more opera, well its not true, we need erotic and visceral singing like it was long time ago..that's what made the public crazy about this great art!!Today everything is more important than the great voice!!!everything is oposit from what it should be!

I agree, it seems as if he had been forced to participate in the play, he has no taste for acting, he lacks presence, grace. All of that production was undervalued for their lack of commitment. He will have a powerful voice, but the opera is also performed.

@@flaqueyu Forget about the acting, the voice is throaty and ugly. Horrible.

If you have a chance, watch some videos on youtube from his recent Otello at Salzburg. It has been a few years, and he's gained a measure of robustness and control. I find it to be a very promising voice!

the final note would be flat if he was singing a B, but he sang a B flat, and in tune. This is a good voice that shows promiss.Hope he doesn't rush into heavier roles too soon, but I suspect he'll end up as a Wagner specialist-it should suit him well.

Pawlep -you are FAR from ignorant. You continue to make valuable contributions to this site. But let's face it-we aren't re-writing "Grove Dictionary of Music".Most comments are knee-jerk reactions based on personal opinion and not objective. But, even those opinions have a place.I've made a few bonehead comments of my own-like confusing head voice and falseto.I know better, but this is not a serious forum and afterall, when all comments are considered, many are from the heart , not the head. Best

Yes, his Met debut is this spring as well, as the Prince in Rusalka. Kind of a thankless role for a tenor of his calibre, but I'm sure he will progress on to some better things.

La voce è spessa ed importante, ma l'interprete è veramente modesto. C'è da dire che il video è vecchiotto per cui le cose potrebbero essere migliorate, anche se l'Otello di Muti non mi entusiasma nemmeno un po'

He can't take his eyes off her lol Pretty good singing performance, I'm not a big fan of his acting though The French diction should be improved too

3:28 That's should be a pianissimo!!! Does he even know what he's singing??? Just like in his Boris Godunov at the Met, he simply throwing notes. No interpretation; he could be singing a shopping list. Oh, and of course, you don't understand a word.

Nice voice, but the French is really bad (but then only we French manage that properly, it IS a dreadful language for singing)

No acting at all and therefore no emotion - watch Jonas Kaufmann do it

This was at the beginning of this tenor's career. It's really not fair to compare him to Jonas Kaufmann who has had a steady international career for some time.
