Wish you guys showcased more of the actual drum sounds rather than the corny dubstep filler kits. We know electronic drums can make electronic sounds. Let's hear how natural and real it sounds when replicate "drums"

SiREN2173 they don’t want to bring attention to the actual drum sounds because they aren’t that great. The kit would be good for someone who wants to trigger toontrack superior or something else with Great samples.

Michael Welborn lol it will. It's the same bass pad as what came on every other Alesis kit with mesh pads and I had it with my old dm10. Worked just fine with double fast double bass. Just have to know how to adjust settings if you have problems.

You can always get an old DM10 kit, or even just the module off ebay. I've seen 'em for $150. Of course, use a program like EZDrummer 2 and you'll have all the premium sounds you want.

and here's another "demo" that makes no sense to me - this is a "pro" kit and we are having to listen to a bunch of nonsense: play-along songs, number of sounds, etc... No info about cymbals' construction, additional trigger inputs, etc... In other words no info about features "pros" are interested in and writing to Alesis produces ZERO answers.

I wonder why he keeps avoiding saying the word: "Ten". It's the DM10 MKII Pro, and it's clearly marked: DM10 MKII Pro. Just wondering.

I'm a colossal fan of Jeff Porcaro (Drummer for Toto, who notoriously hated Electronic Kits) and I wanna start doing drumming even though I never learned at a young age. I feel like this is the kit that I wanna get, and after seeing this, I definitely am considering making the investment. 😍🥁

When Jeff was around, edrums were not that great, I also hated them until about the mid 2000s when that all changed - now I hate acoustic kits. Even Ian Paice has a TD - 11KV and a TD - 50KV.

I've had this kit for about 2 weeks. Its a beautiful looking kit and the pad and pad sizes are a luxury and for the price, its a steal. To the sounds though...... Snare and kick sounds are where it shines IMO. Where it falls short, substantially, are the cymbals and secondly the toms. The hi-hats, well.....amateur. They are just flat, quiet, and well, boring. The crashes don't scream or cut through the music, at all. The module has potential, but coming from a Roland it just falls flat. I'm returning it for a TD11KV. Just my 2 cents.
@rwl6935

Tim Kelly did you get a chance to try importing your own samples. If you have toontrack superior or something like that. I’m just wondering how well it would translate since there’s more than one sample being triggered to produce all the nuances a single drum hit makes.

Roland sounds aren't gonna be that great either at the price point. Honestly you're way better off keeping this kit and getting a drum software to get premier sounds. It'll essentially make your Alesis sound as good as a td-30 for a third the price.

So I hope someone can help me with this issue please! I’m kind of new to edrums as I bought the Alesis Nitro Mesh Kit and I loved it for the most part, and after trading in my acoustic kit, I just bought this exact same kit from Alesis via Guitar Center. I guess it’s 18”dual or triple zone ride cymbal that has two inputs on the bottom side. This may sound like a stupid question so forgive me please, but, it has my third Tom sound in addition to the cymbal sound, and the same two sounds apply to my third 12” Tom. The both sound exactly the same. I don’t know how to get rid of the Tom sound on my ride and get rid of the cymbal sound on my 12” Tom? Can someone help me with this?? I was so excited to get the DM10MKII PRO! But so far I’m not all that impressed and it’s probably because I’m doing something wrong. HELP PLEASE!

@papapickett7267
@papapickett7267 Год назад
Always been one of the things I dont like about E kits. They lack subtlety. Ekits have pressure triggers and have to be hit at certain pressure in order to register sound. Rubber bounces better but lacks sensitivity awareness on pressure pickups for rolls and such. Meshs which are usually used on snares feel more acoustic like but even though they are more sensitive will still miss rolls. I personally love rolls on hi hats but Ekits are TERRIBLE with sensitivity when it comes to cymbal rolls. They almost never detect and project correctly. If you are a single stroke “fat” drummer then lack of acuity wont matter but for seasoned players with fine tuned skills and accented attacks, all the Ekits Ive ever played have lacked in accuracy of precision. I have never played the top end Ekits but I imagine they are more accurate but they simply cant compete with acoustics in that department. Youll never get the echo in a drum or a light rattle from a snare band on an Ekit and it will always miss gentle strikes and rolls and make you a much more basic sounding drummer the more time you spend on it.

I had a grand and was able to finance anything on a site i wanted, I've been playing drums 45 years,i played in the USAF in Band Flight, they told me to buy the Alesis Turbo..1010% sht. they still make this model so i went and got a Surge rack, sold all the 10-inch cymbal and 8-inch mesh pads, (made more than i paid for the kit), and bought from the factory,2 12 inch mesh heads,a brand new Real head, which i love,as my snare on a stand,a 12-inch mesh to my left and to my right, and 2 10 inch pads, and all the cymbals here,plus 4 4-8 inch china and splash's,im upgrading to a Surge mod,..but cant find any VST to work with my FLS 20.8 which i have 4 other keyboards connect to as well..anyone know what a good VST?
@clementtytube
@clementtytube 4 года назад
Is the hihat controller on the DM10 MK2 PRO kit output midi note CC4? Or in other words, is it a Continuous Controller? I'm asking this so I could use it in Superior Drummer or any VST for that matter and have almost like 6 to 8 articulations corresponding to the hihat controller open/close range value (0 to 127). So that gives more articulations to work with and is smoother transition especially with a monstrous VST like SUPERIOR Drummer 3 (rather than the usual 4 notes sent by the module like: closed, half open, open, close pedal and splash hit). And one more question, is the hihat pad of dm10 Mk2 has 2 zone? Does it have an bow sound and a tip sound in one position of the hh pedal? (say hh pedal is now closed and hitting at the bow and tip produce different midi note values or different sounds from the module itself) Anybody who has this kit or knows about it could enlighten further.... Pleazzzeeee???

I used a Y spliiter on tom 4 to add a cymbal. I assigned the cymbal sound i wanted from the tom 4 rim. The cymbal works perfect except when i strike tom 4 i get both the cymbal and the tom sound. Can anyone help me!?
@alfsmith4936
@alfsmith4936 Год назад
You need to make sure your Y splitter is splitting the signals properly.. A mono plug into a stereo jack will pick up both piezo transducers in the tom. You need to get a soldering iron and wire a stereo jack plug, with only the correct half of the stereo output on the pad working. Or cut one of the wires on the one you have, if you can get to it.. Which one is a gamble... It's not the ground.. If you've got a multimeter life becomes a lot easier.
@alfsmith4936
@alfsmith4936 Год назад
Or you could open the pad and cut the wire for the rim trigger inside...
@GhostofGenX
@GhostofGenX Год назад
@@alfsmith4936 Thanks for the reply! I figured it out. I have a stereo (female) into 2 mono (males) which is the right one. I just had to turn the physical drum pad volume down a bit, might not be the perfect solution but it works great now!

One concern is reading the kick drum wears down where the beater hits. I've read using a pad on it to avoid that problem. Any insight into that? I just bought this a few days ago to use as a practice kit. I use my acoustic kit at rehearsals, writing sessions & tour prep. Yet, because of where I live I can't play at 9pm etc. Reason I bought this is to practice & better my craft, so I don't give a rats arse if it's not perfect.

I recently came across a review that recommended using a tennis ball style beater to save on wear & tear on the mesh head and to give a more realistic feel. They seem to average about $20. Hope this helps. Enjoy.

When they put the word "Pro " in the name , they forgot the " blem " ! The kit sounds alright through headphones but sounds like shit through an amplifier. You can really hear how bad the quality of the drum recordings are. And the cymbals are even worse. This is a common problem with e kits unless you use drum software or spend a fortune on high end flagship kits from Roland or Yamaha. Or spend $2200 on the Pearl Mimic module which you can use with just about every e kit on the market. Unfortunately , with electronic drums , great sound does not come cheap. Hopefully this will change in the not too distant future.
