Isn't she awesome? She sings this aria so well!!! I heard her sing this in recital at The Kennedy Center about 25 years ago, and audience members gasped audibly at her incredible musicality and stage presence!
Mark Wilger :: Yeah, she's awesome ! So awesome, when you hear her sing roles you've heard other singers sing, no matter how great the others, she is better ! I think her Turandot was the best I've heard. Her voice is warm & luxuriant, not like the usual icebergs who sing this role ; even if the character is "cold". I don't really like Turandot as a character, but I had great sympathy for that character after hearing Marc's more expressively human, mournful sound about her ancestor's history.
I heard her in person sing the Verdi Requiem in Seattle years ago. She's one of those artists that once she walks on the stage, she takes command of it. You can't take your eyes off of her and your ears are captivated by the magnificent sound. Thanx for posting.

I've listened to hundreds of arias by the top 100 operatic sopranos who have ever been recorded - I've listened to them for decades. This Verdi aria by Mme Marc is exquisite.
Yes, I agree with you. "Soul", is naturally an innate part of her vocal profile. She, Leontyn and Tebaldi had it. There may be others, I'm sure as I haven't heard all of them. Nevertheless, we're fortunate when they come along.
She is an exceptional talent. It’s a shame you found the need to comment on her appearance and ruin the lovely praise she deserves. This kind of talent comes with a LOT of hard work and it would be awful crime if she read you comment and never wanted to bless the world with her voice again. Please just enjoy the MUSIC and be grateful she is WONDERFUL and shares herself with RU-vid and the world. 💛
unfortunately i did not see this artist until fairly late in her career, when she sang the four last songs in NJ in 2002. what i remember at the time was how mushy her diction was... unfort. that's mostly what i remembered. but the voice was large and rich.
Wonderful voice. I must admit that I only "discovered" her recently and wow! The only thing bothering me throughout is the distortion of open vowels in the lower/middle register, for instance "pacö, pacö," "visi d'artöö" etc. Maybe the German Background..
Wow, Her voice is in excellent shape! I don't wish obesity on sopranos, but if you consider Alessandra and Deborah Voight were at one time pretty similar in size both vocally and physically, I would say Voight's voice has suffered the size she lost compared to Alessandra! Well, we should love them both for who they are.
It was not the weight loss that ruined Voight's voice. I heard her several times pre-operation in Chicago in Strauss [mostly] and she had a huge and most beautiful voice. I also heard her in her first new role [Salome] at the same opera house. Her voice still filled the house in the same way but is was slightly more "edgy" and metallic but beautiful nonetheless. It was her being pushed into the inappropriate big Wagner roles by Levine that cause such a fast decline in her voice. She never had a true Wagnerian voice, despite her wonderful Sieglinde [I heard that in Washington] and being pushed into the Ring too soon after her operation was the ruination of a great soprano.
I really like her. But I do not like this aria.the slow tempo takes away the drama for sure.. and so does her inability to float the first high B flat . Also her diction is part of why this aria falls flat .
