yep! He played alongside many greats (Zidane, Ibra, Nedved) but he eclipsed most of them (except for Nedved maybe).... Him and Nedved are my all-time Juve players... from that era anyway
@@silversurfer3806 as a Manchester UTD fan I would agree. Juve were the most feared team in Europe at the time and should have won more. The ‘98 final in particular was a tough loss. The semifinal in Turin in ‘99 is probably MU greatest European night
@@mcgannpster anyway we lose almost all the finals of champions. it's a curse. we won 2 and lost 7 and i mean 7 ahahahaha. how about "our" cristiano ronaldo"? xoxo
He scored his first UCL goal in the same stadium and spot of his last goal for Italy national team, in the 2006 world cup semifinal against Germany. Legend
Having both Zidane and Del Piero in the same team is just unfair for the opposition. His dribbling and set pieces were so unique though, amazing talent. And it seems he was super motivated when playing against Real Madrid because almost all of his goals against them were a thing of beauty
The man, the myth, the legend, the symbol of bianconeri and Italia, the man who is my idol and the man whom I first fell in love with football because of him, ALESSANDRO DEL P1ER0 ❤️❤️❤️
He was the face of UCL, generations now and later will never know how iconic he was to Italian football and European football. He’s the first player to come to mind when I think of Italy 🇮🇹
90-2000 best period in football story. A lot of talents everywhere! Del Piero: UCL, Intercontinental Cup (with goal) World Cup (with goal in semi and final), a lot of serie A Titles, best scorer in UCL and Serie A. Ever in the same team. A true legend, a true gentleman. One of best all time.
For sure - Late 90s early 00s was peak football for me - so many genuine legends around that time - Ronaldo R9, Zidane, Rivaldo, Figo, Henry, Bergkamp, Davids, Seeforf, Del Peiro, Totti, Van Nistelrooy, Keane, Vieira, Romario, Ronaldinho, Shevchenko, Beckham, Raul, Redondo, Cannavaro, Batistuta, Rui Costa, Roberto Carlos, Cafu etc etc etc
man i am 35 and this dude was my childhood hero. I live in Turkey and not all football games were on TV in this years. I was calling myself as del piero when we were playing football on street every time. Other guys even didnt have idea about who he is lol
Absolute genius, the best in his generation and one of the best among the next, could score masterpieces until 2015. Unfortunately Juventus management didn't let Alex finish his career decently.
Goal number 2 vs Steaua is and always will be my favourite goal ever. I was a kid and I just could not believe that a goal like that could be possible. It is for this reason that no other goal will take that place in my heart.
People must know that the first 5 goals were in his first 5 matches, all in that way, since then called "Del Piero's way"; Juve eventually won that CL. I remember all these goals and I remember where I was and where I felt, especially the very 1st one, at Borussia, the first and the most beautyful one. Del Piero had magic in his football, when generally footballers had magic in single gestures and not in numbers. It was another football. Del Piero was one of its prophets. At that freekick n. 38, I was at the stadium, exactly in the zone of the direction of the shot. Nobody was thinking that he could have thought to shoot from that far, and nobody would think he had still when the ball was halfway in the air. Epic
One of biggest set piece threats I've ever seen. His game was way more than free kicks but in that specific department his ability to deliver in crunch moments and overall consistency was just unbeliavable.
He started playing with Juve when there still was R. Baggio; then he was the new golden boy… then he played with Zidane to Buffon… 2 decades. From Seria A to Serie B. Very loyal.
The man went out like an absolute legend, scoring his last Champions league goals against Real Madrid and Chelsea at the age of 35, like they were nothing lol
Leggenda!
the kid me, was falling in love with football because of him ♥️ if we talk abt loyalty, he is the best with all achievement he could give. the best indeed
Yes but Ronaldo had twice as much UCL appearances, Del Piero is by far more accurate in free kicks, Ronaldo was overall more prolific goalscorer but that is also because Del Piero was a pure number 10 and always had a main striker ahead of him which he assisted.
Del Piero made a bigger career than Baggio. Del Piero last longer at the UCL level of football and won WC in the end. Baggio is undoubted legend, a true artist of football and Ballon d’Or winner but he spent so many years in smaller clubs like Fiorentina, Bologna or Brescia.
@@FiftyCent22 Yes, Del Piero played one season in Serie B (because of calciopoli) but he also played 89 matches in UCL while Baggio played just 9 times.
UCL goals or highlight reel that's how classy just about all his goals were. Free kicking master-class. His goal in 2006 World Cup semi final against Germany in last minutes of extra time was one of my greatest memories
THAT TIME I CANT WAIT TO SEE UCL MATCH BECAUSE TO SEE ALESSANDRO DEL PIERO..AND I WANT TO SEE HIM MORE AND MORE AND MORE..NOW UCL NOT GREAT TO SEE ANYMORE BECAUSE I CANT SEE ALESSANDRO DEL PIERO..WE LOST THE GREATEST MASTER PIECE OF FOOTBALL ART.😭
Del Piero was one of the best to watch and had a very successful career. I think Di Natale and Quagliarella were kind of similar players who didn't win as many trophies but scored beautiful goals like Alessandro.
Unlike many free kick masters, Del Piero didn't have a specific way and technique.. that's why he showed the beckham bends, juninho arrows, baggio's,... that's so tricky for goalkeepers.. his creativity was superb..
Great player inside the field, great man outside the field.
Del Piero is truly a great player. there are many star player leaving after Juventus been knock out to Serie B. But Del piero is one of key players stayed. Juventus fight to participated in the Champions League once again and Del piero at the age 34 put his team in one of strongest team in europe once again 🔥🔥🔥
