Does anyone know if this is the original version written by Marcello? Are the ornaments the ones that Bach added or the soloist? I am looking for the original version without the edits of his brother or Bach's upgrades.
Dorothee Oberlinger's virtuoso Recorder brings a delicious toccata and crisp narrative to this concerto. It tells of another story altogether. A hopeful naivety; youthful first experiences. Energetic and full of life. Equally as wondrous as the Oboe.
And again a wonderful performance by BB! I certainly loved the first part, so cautious, tip toe elegant as an accompaniment for Frau Oberlinger's superb recorder. Thank God for the internet...
On a soprano recorder, Dorothee Oberlinger plays an exquisite rendition of Alessandro Marcello's Oboe Concerto in D minor. And yes, this is the typical instrument played by kids in grade school. Dorothy is such fun to watch! She really dances with the music, I always love her playfullness and often humor with faster movements, but that Adagio was deeply soul stirring and probably my favourite here today... I must find the score! I often forget that we don't HAVE to stick to just music written for recorders alone... Bravo all the delightfull musicians!
It is because baroque oboe is in C and soprano recorder is also in C but one octave higher. So many baroque oboe pieces can be played on a soprano recorder.
Haha! My thoughts exactly, I am learning to play oboe, which brought me here, because this is one of my favorite oboe concertos so far. But wow, I am so pleasantly surprised. I played a recorder as a kid and never expected to see one take the solo. My eyes have been opened! (And my ears.)
Actually, I love this with recorder, but, I also love the Oboe. Maybe in my opinion, Recorder have Brighter, Joy, and Sad sound more than Oboe. For Oboe, very sad, suspension, not so happy, and Darker sound.

An outstandig element of the Baroque music is the possibility of interchanging the solo instrument, as long as the range of the score is adaptable. Only, I had never seen the mouth of a recorder player, red with lipstick.
Perché l'Adagio è stato eseguito cosi veloce ? Appunto si chiama Adagio,secondo me doveva essere suonato più lentamente. Peccato perché si tratta comunque di una buonissima esecuzione,oltretutto con un recorder anziché un oboe.

Good evening. I'd like to ask you for advice. I started playing the recorder before the soprano and for some months also the alto flute. The sharps in the soprano flute range from F to B and on the contrary the flats. Is this also true for the alto flute? Thanks Marco

Es ist für eine Oboe geschrieben, man kann es aber auch mit anderen C-Instrumenten spielen, da die Sopranblockföte auch in C gestimmt ist wie die Oboe.
