Alex Batty’s gran reveals heartbreaking moment she knew he was gone in painful final call

THE DEVASTATED gran of Alex Batty has said she was “utterly betrayed” by her daughter and her ex-husband when they abducted the schoolboy.
Susan Caruana, 68, who was Alex’s legal guardian at the time, feared she would never see the lad, then 11, again following a call in Spain.

This is such a happy story. Well done Alex and his Gran. Enjoy your time together. 😊 This young man is thoughtful, well mannered and well spoken. He may have been ‘kidnapped’ but he has turned out better than some feral English kids who have never gone through a trauma like this. He is a credit to all his family in England and France. I wish him every happiness in the future xx

I’m still so confused about this case. Very strange that his mother who did not have custody was allowed to take him out of the country. Some very big mistakes were made here.

Look at his hands as he 'hugs' his Gran, his fists are closed not open! Could show an unease with physical contact, which could suggest he hasn't had much or any genuine, open physical affection during his childhood. Which is very sad! Such things during childhood often carry thru to adult personality. Give him lots of hugs gran :)

How many Alex’s in England? We don’t have to go as far as Spain or France to see similar examples. Right here in the UK I have an example very close to me where a mother isolates her son from the rest of the family abroad with sponsorship from the UK taxpayer. Sad reality

This is an amazing story but being a huge newspaper shouldn't you be exposing on and reporting the truth about how abusive social services actually are and just how many families suffer greatly being ripped apart by the lies that they tell about a loving caring mother and/or father just to steal a child from a vulnerable family in order to make money !!!!!!!!

Becuz she was not capable of taking care of him properly at one point so she stepped in to raise him. My Nana did the same thing for my cousin cuz her son (my cousins dad, my uncle, my dads brother) got deported becuz of crimes he committed in canada so she raised him all the way untill she passed.
