Alex Batty celebrates first proper Christmas in six years with Gran

Missing teen Alex Batty has celebrated Christmas properly for the first time in six years - and toasted his new-found freedom with his beloved Irn-Bru.
His overjoyed gran Susan Cuarana, 68, said she was having the “best Christmas ever” a week after the lad’s shock return from France.
She gave Alex, 17, a big warm hug as they celebrated the festive season together for the first time since 2017.
Susan is Alex’s legal guardian but his mum Melanie and grandad David took him on holiday to Spain six years ago - and never returned.
Alex finally fled the family’s hippy lifestyle in France this month before his emotional reunion with his gran.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of this story Alex has missed years where he could have had proper schooling and friends of his own age. Despite what has happened he seems a well balanced and caring young man and I wish him well in his future life. With determination and the love of his Grandma he can achieve whatever he wants to achieve. Good luck Alex.

All the best, Alex, you'll be fine. Take one day at a time. Enjoy being young still and learning. Even in adulthood we are still learning, having good communication and focus is the key as well being kind. Everyone is on their own path, and you are now free to choose yours :).

His grandma was made his legal guardian for reasons which don't seem to have been made public. He was on holiday in Spain when his mum,grandad and him went missing. He resurfaced all these years later when as a young man he decided he wan'ted a more normal life,not moving about and hiding and so he simply walked away.

Read the FULL conversation and hopefully you’ll get a better understanding of my point…..🙄 The video I reacted to were they/he were bothered by the fact he hadn’t had a proper Christmas in a long time ,,, 🤷‍♀️ if that’s all he was concerned about do you really believe he had a bad time with them ? He was intelligent enough to wait until he was old enough to leave by choice of his own….. Then just left,,,,, and refuses to tell where his mum is ,,,, If they treated him poorly wouldn’t he hand in his mother ?

To be honest watching this clip my immediate reaction was the granny's body language,look at the way her hand "clinging on"his shoulder during this video interview.It's good to see him happy being back with granny nonetheless,and knows exactly of his plan ahead to persue college education.Have a great 2024,Alex
