full lyrics: I heard a story the other day About a kid I knew who couldn't stay awake He was sleeping through my favorite movie I forget what it's called but I know it was moving And someone shakes him and he opens his eyes But his dreams have already taken over his mind He's yelling like somebody's causing him pain But there's nobody there but the things in his brain His mom took him down to a hospital Where they hooked up his head to this real awful machine Now he's laughing like something is funny He says that it's funny He think he's somebody Who walks along the universe And tells his God that nothing could be worse Than staying awake at this movie It's dumb and it's tough and it is really boring

Now that way that he dressed is like second thoughts And the bed sheets were wet when they came across your face And your body The light was so dirty like grey in the sky Made the rain look like pixels And i Stood on My knees With you While holding your face as your eyes withdrew They're shrouded in shadow Like you never did see me And now I'm left wondering Who am I holding?
This feeling that the music gives, I can't describe how much I love these calmer songs by Alex, they become so unique... One of my favorites for sure...
I know many artists who say if they can’t execute their ideas they’d rather die. Because outside of art they have no social life, major mental illness, and an awful family Many that do attempt and survive run out of creativity. like they can’t think a thought anymore. Because your brain temporarily runs out of oxygen, or is being affected by the overdose. Ending in brain damage So they are left lost like deer roaming roads in fog. They’re left with the fear of death, but the urge for it. They end up with the embarrassment of who they are now and yearn for what they used to be. If you can’t enjoy the movie you created in your mind to give you hope in the first place; what’s the point?
you can never have listened to every alex g song. when you think you've heard it all theres always more. the rabbit hole never ends. you just keep falling through an endless array of alex g songs, the deeper the more depressive. it never ends. a never ending turmoil. you can't escape, once you're trapped theres no going back.
I vividly remember going through H withdrawal while listening to this a few years ago at one the lowest points of my life. It was probably one of the closest times I've been to ending my life. I'm glad I didn't pull that trigger, but I gotta be careful listening to this stuff years later. Brings me right back to being in that room laying in bed for weeks at a time

it’s kind of unfortunate that this song reminds me of the worst time of my life because it’s incredibly beautiful but i can only stomach listening to it so much
I used to skip this song because I couldn’t find it as relatable or relevant to me as his other songs. Now I listen multiple times a day. I’m not happy about it though
