Alex G's Race is one of the most incredible albums that I have heard in my lifetime. It's something about the creativity of each and every song. It brings you to a specific place just by the first three chords and when you realize you are involve in something bigger than you can imagine. His magnum opus if I had to say. Moved in every way and by every song. It somehow fits so well hearing this songs put together, although you cannot see a pattern or a defined genre in his music. It feels like being a kid again, and hearing music for the first time. It truly feels like a race. Are you really there?
(Tw for sh) Bad day at work. Felt like the only people I loved hated me. I go home and lock my door, planning on hurting myself for the first time that night. My brother knocks on the door. "Wanna hang out in my room?" I say yes. We hung out until 2AM listening to Alex G and Carseat Headrest, and at that moment, I felt loved. He was the reason I was able to have the will to wake up the next morning. Now, every time I hear this nostalgic indie music, I remember that moment, and I feel okay. Thanks Owen.
These songs make me so uncomfortably comfortable while a erie nostalgia hangs in over me so much happiness and sadness that I don’t know I had in me come out it’s so raw and beautiful
This album feels like being in junior high school when you're outside on recess and you feel really hot and sticky. I can feel waves of quills coming up out of my arms.
this whole album sounds like a large hole in your chest. the empty feeling, the feeling like someone or something is just missing. you try to breathe in, but the air cannot fill the emptiness that stubbornly proceeds to say that someone/something you lost a long time ago is the only thing that will patch it. that hole sits there for eternity. no matter how many tears that start from your eyes and end at the the dent-in pit in your chest, no matter how many times you meet a sweet new someone or discover something better than what you lost, no matter who or what is comforting you and telling you ¨you can find so much better¨,¨im so sorry that happened¨ or ¨im here for you¨, no matter how much fun you go out and make with the things/people you love and appreciate, you can't seem to take your mind off the piece that's missing and won't heal or even scar/scab. you know this thing you miss so much was horrible for you, but the trauma of it either just won't leave you alone, or you want what you had with it back (not completely getting why either).
I can say that some sort of "empty nostalgia" pinpoints how I feel when I listen to this album. Alex G seems to be one of the only musicians that can fully bring sound to the ways I feel. It's so strange.
My ex & i used to listen to this and Trick on repeat back in like 2013. It brings back some painful memories now, but i don’t think this album will never leave me. It’s too perfect to leave behind i feel like it’s buried deep in my subconscious at this point

Alex G was the soundtrack for my youth between 16 and 18 (I'm almost 21 years old btw) Every time I listen to him so many memories come up and I just feel that time in my life so heavy again

i listened to this in the end of 2015, and since then i`ve been discovering a lot of different albuns and stuff, but i swear, i swear that i will never listen something as good as this . the feelings that this shit gave me are something that i`ll never be able to reciprocate. thank you, alex g
I feel the same! After all these years, I come back to Alex G (especially for the 'Race' album) and I get the same or at least similiar feelings again which I had when I listened to it from 2015 on.
@@maxgmail587 no, they aren't. But I love them, I was searching something with a sound (maybe more a low-fi taste) like coma cinema (or something from Mathew Lee Cothran) and when I discovered Alex g I enjoyed his music. Give them a second chance, they don't let you down

still his best work, absolute masterpiece. i dont care how good his production becomes because this is it, such a great album and i come back to it again and again and again and again.
His music is so universal like watching waves on a beach. Theres just that feeling that everything is exactly how its supposed to be no matter how fucked up it seems
My favorite part about loving music is, when I hear certain songs, I remember the feelings I had at that time. Like the first time I listened to Sarah, I know that when I'm older, I'll hear that song and remember the endless days staring at my computer doing online school, holding back tears from loneliness, peaceful nights where all I want to do is sleep but I can't help but stay up and think of all the good times I had before everything went bad.

Now that this album is older, it feels painfully nostalgic. It makes me a bit sad, even though I wasn’t happy at the time I’d listen to it. But for a moment I can feel what almost 10 years ago felt like. I don’t want to go back, but there is something sad about knowing you never can go back.
Growing up with him as my little brother and having him as my drummer when he was at least 8 years old was definitely a chill moment and an awesome X factor !!

this album is literally one of my favourite albums ever so sad i cant get it on cd definitely a 10/10 album. hits like a brick, especially with the thought that he released this when he was about my age. crazy.
Alex G is just lightyears past his peers, so many other bands from our generation that i love but nobody is touching Alex G on any level, it blows me away.
It’s so weird and beautiful to me that my daughter who is 14 now is discovering the music that meant the absolute world to me when she was just an infant.
