its Sunday, 7:20 AM. I woke up ten minutes ago thinking today was Monday and i had class at 9. first two things i did once i realized it was Sunday: smoked 2 bowls, went to this album.
It's 4:07 pm CST on Monday and I have minus 900 dollars in my checking account. So I am sitting here listening to this watching my savings hemorrage, accepting it, and feeling like a winner.
Starting anything is scary and confusing, and it's common to feel totally lost at times, but starting something while scared or confused is your first step to getting to do something confidently and with enjoyment. Doing just *Whatever* with it is infinite times better than doing nothing with it. Personally I gotta practice what I preach, but- it's ok to do stuff scared
I just finished up the rest of his discography (that's available to me on Spotify which seems to be every album but this one now that Race is there) and noticed this little album. Can't wait to tuck in and fully finish my journey with Alex G, this guy has been a great find.
Not if he made it himself. Elliott was a huge perfectionist who put a lot of stock into a traditional level of difficulty. He did Roman Candle by himself on like a basic 4 track same age Alex was when he made race. I’ve learned most the songs on both albums and Roman Candle is significantly more difficult. Just saying.
@@oldaccount5217 okay, dude lol. Yes, I get it. Elliott was a perfectionist and if he made this, it wouldn’t sound as raw, but he would definitely like it and give Alex props I think lol.
@@Thrashman-ye4cf raw means less polished. Not more technical. Liking a song is different than being proud of someone you’ve never met. I don’t see why people are getting so bent over a different hypothesis regarding someone’s assumption about a deceased persons subjective opinion. It’s pretty stupid.
@@maxautunno I assumed writing Condor Ave. meant he recorded it the same year. My bad. I was wrong. But if you intend to bitch about hypotheticals you might want to refer to OP. I wouldn’t have said my opinion if he hadn’t. The bias you have about a difference of opinion and getting personal over it only brings you lower so don’t blame me for you feeling down. You’re responsible for yourself.
The disagreement was obviously over a misunderstanding of words in the post. I doubt either artist would take proud ownership over the others work. That’s clearly all I said. I like them both for different reasons and I never put one persons art above anothers. Difficult doesn’t equal good. It’s subjective and that’s not the point of self expression anyway. I listen to Alex when I’m cheerful and Elliott when I’m down. Simple works well with happy and complicated works well with sad for me. I don’t have anymore to say about it.
The hive mind and anonymous elements of online life can lead to very dispicable behavior... but then you find subculture like Alex G fans and you see that sometimes when there's no fear of being found out, people let their guard down entirely and express nothing but love
I like Alex G, old and new (House of Sugar was just released at the time of this comment and it's great). This particular album sounds so much like Elliott Smith that I want to listen to Elliott next. That's definitely one of the best compliments I can give.
It’s 9:34pm. Early start tomorrow but the neighbors seem to think it’s a Friday night. Is this what being a “Winner” is supposed to be….? Be happy with your negative checking account and cool apartment.

@@j.b.8546 hey friend stay safe and take care of yourself. you are right where you should be right now no matter what you have endured or where you're coming from, i understand its hard to believe that notion when you are suffering but i promise that you are. trust the process of life! much love
@@j.b.8546 I hope you're doing better now,, and if not, I'm going to write your username on my cabinet so at least you'll be around for a few years still in spirit somewhere
I don't see the Elliot Smith connection, maybe in a slight stylistic mood setting. There really are only a few good bands (pearl jam, Nirvana) and to relate every band back to a sound you once heard in the 90$ is very dangerous ( pearl jam). This takes me back to the propaganda of the late 2000s that lead to the slaughter of many millions of hipsters. I can understand why the world fears the organization of mushstashed strong men bent on Utopia (Mario), but to flood the radio wavvs with terrible vibrations and RU-vid comment sections with fake news band references will only lead to another genocide ( pearl Jam). Maybe this does just sound like a happier Elliot Smith. Thanks for letting me know.
Andrew Muse Lol Elliott Smith is the first thing that came to mind when I heard this. It’s his soft vocals and lofi acoustic sound that makes him sound like Elliott Smith.
Only lame part is your lack of self confidence. You gotta be proud and explicit. I used to play with my buddies in SprayNard and one thing I learned is you gotta be loud.
today i woke up and i dug a hole and buried my phone in it. i dunno when im going to dig it back up but for now i've been enjoying the sweet soul of alex g and washing my hair.
It's 9:40 pm. I basically did nothing today except go to the dollar store. I got chips, and an ice cream bar. After that I layed in bed and sat on my phone for about an hour. I then stepped outside for around an hour and reflected on life.
