ALEX HIGGINS - FLASH SHOTS (RE-UPLOAD)

Snooker Breaks and Exhibition Shots

Well, I uploaded this video around 3yrs ago, it reached 300,000+ views with 400+ comments until a little shitty ap called the John Virgo ap red flagged it and got it selfishly removed meaning no more viewing for youtubers, all comments and view count gone and a copyright strike for me,...just because I added 5mins of footage at the end showing Alex cleverly potting a Pink and a black ball 1-handed from a John Virgo dvd, quite a cruel thing to do when this video was bringing enjoyment to everyone.
Anyway, several months ago another youtuber STOLE that video before it was taken down and uploaded it himself without even having the decency of asking me or crediting me for the time putting it together along with editing time.
These facts resulted in me redoing this video with added shots that weren't in the previous upload just to prove this was indeed MY original upload whereas the other one is a fraud which was ripped from my channel, in the end I had no option but to get it forcefully removed by RU-vid as he made no attempt to explain himself.
So here we go again, Alex Higgins Flash Shots re-upload, I hope you enjoy it.
Oh, I left the Virgo clip out this time as not going to give whoever it was the chance of striking my channel again.
All the best Higgin's fans!!!!

Hello, many of you know my Labrador "Snoopy", last Wednesday (Aug' 2023) he severly tore his CCL which will require surgery, I've had to set up a GoFundMe page for him as the surgery bill is monstrous as he is not insured and I cannot allow him to remain Lame and in pain, if you'd like to help then please follow this link, a video on there will explain what has happened, I'm exrememly gutted, he's my other kid and I love him to bits, do not feel obliged to donate but if you do then I would be extremely grateful. A big thanks for re-uploading this. These shots show why Alex was a true legend in the snooker world. Taking on shots others wouldn't consider trying and being successful. A pleasure to watch. He will always be my favourite snooker player, with Jimmy a close second.

Higgins had that flamboyant, devil-may-care attitude that snooker today hates and tries to destroy wherever it sees it because it now likes robotic clones with no personality. Not only did he have that attitude but he also had the most amazing skills and understanding of the dynamics of the games itself that it allowed him to pull off shots no one else would even think of going for. As a result he was probably the most exciting snooker player ever seen at the table. Jimmy White could have been the number two but snookers officials stamped all of the character out of him and killed his natural game in the process.

In the name of justice..you describe very well the man (and the times),Higgins was one the greatest genisus to ever pick up a cue,as with Lennon when he picked up a guitar,as you are aware these guys don't come by order,they just"arrive",when they do "arrive" .they are as you also said flamboyant as well as captivating individuals if not for there craft ,there character,Legends wil come and go ,but Sadly we have to wait till they"ARRIVE",

In the name of justice,, ,,you appear to miss the point,,in fact you do miss the point ,Lennon was talented as was Higgins,,so they shared common ground there,if you want to bring personalities in to it Higgins was a rough diamond,but that's not the issue .
@inthenameofjustice8811

+Hello goodbye No. I did not miss the point I simply chose to make a different one. Talent is talent. Anyone who has talent is the same as anyone else who has talent therefore there is nothing to discuss but the degree of talent. I had no desire to go there. My original comment was a critique of the way snooker authorities misuse their power to crush genius by forcing it into a TV acceptable mould of their own making. It was you that ignored that point and went off into a whole 'arrival' thing.

The point is for him they were not risks. He made "risky" shots all the time while all the others made the safest easiest shots possible. Because there was nobody to match him he played against himself, not against his opponents because they weren't even close to his abilities. But he was a drunk, a womanizer and a spoiled brat. His life is a morality tale on how snooker and the criminal corrupt pool hall culture can destroy you and lead you into a life of drugs and sin. Pool halls are no place for children or adults. They never have been and never will.

He played fearlessly, regularly putting himself in situations that he shouldn't have but he knew he had the skill to pull it back with something extraordinary and that's what he loved, that buzz off the crowd, and that's why he will always be the best in my eyes, didn't have the world championships under his belt because he was emotional and volatile, but that's why he was the best, played with his heart on his sleeve, and as a result would regularly produce pure magic on the felt. Snooker in his hey day was seen as a sedate game played by gentlemen, Alex did everything wrong he moved on the shot and cued erratically, but still won things and got bums on seats, as a kid he was my favourite player, now in my forties and having played the game myself I still try to emulate his style sadly, it's made a worse player of me. Only one Alex Higgins, rest in peace.

The only reason you would watch a snooker game from start to finish in the 80's was if it involved Alex Higgins. Anyone else and you'd maybe watch a frame or two and then go out and see the result when you got back in.

2:47 Wow, it's incredible how he was able to visualize that shot so accurately, hitting 5 cushions and then potting! How is that even possible? If he was off by 1 degree on the initial shot, it would probably have missed the pocket by a foot. Inhuman!

I remember the first time I saw this happen. It doesn't happen often. But a small part of the ball was still touching the green baize, so it was a legal shot. I think that's the rule anyway.
@Pablud3S

Selinor578 as long as the ball does not leave the table, it's a legal shot.

But sometimes when the ball is hit quite hard, it leaves the table for a second or so. This is never given as a foul shot.

Old stone face Davis looking on, green with envy when Alex gets the adulation he deserved because he entertained the crowd. Alex was everything Davis wasn't and he knew it too, that's why there was never any love lost between the two of them. RIP Alex we still love you.

Higgins was a dickhead, supremely talented yes, but i dickhead just the same, Davis outplayed him and outthought him countless times, that's why Higgins hated him, Davis was a complete player, Higgins wasn't, the titles won by both prove that without a shadow of a doubt.

This is a FANTASTIC upload. Thanks! I always knew Higgins was great, but this 9 minutes illustrates better than anything else on youtube: 1) His GENIUS. 2) How dull modern snooker is compared to days when the game had people prepared to play with style. Professionalism (ie dull robotic corporatism) in some sports is over-rated!!!

"I've seen it all now" - even Clive Everton who didn't care too much for Alex couldn't help but marvel. Thanks for re-uploading. One could say Jimmy and Ronnie are just as talented but I would disagree simply because they have great technique. Alex had none - snatching and moving all over the place while cueing. Staggering how he managed to pot a straight black from the spot let alone all this brilliance.

What an amazing snooker player ...forget the bad days but that's what made Alex the showman on the green BAIZE,some of them shots are genuinely not possible!!! but Alex was more than a snooker god,he was a man's man and he lived and loved everyday of his chequered career,the highlight you guessed winning the world championship in 1982 and Alex in tears begging for his little girl tears and passion and what an unforgettable piece of history watching Alex worshipping and idolising his baby girl.To this day I've never ever seen anything close to that.Alex Higgins RIP the memories you left have and Always will keep you alive and today's up and coming players watch ,learn and RESPECT what a legacy this colourful man has left and maybe never surpassed!!!!

If red is on, you're allowed to pot multiple reds in one shot. They will count for 1 point each. Besides that, you're never allowed to pot multiple balls.

Jesse Busman On any free ball, the nominated colour can be potted along with any amount of reds (if reds on the table) or with the colour that the nominated ball represents. If only the pink and black left on a free ball, both balls can be potted for 12 points and the black is re spotted
