Alex Higgins interviewed by David Vine on the second day of the World Snooker Championship 1981. Alex declares there is "not a lot to beat" and that the winner will come from himself, Steve Davis and Jimmy White, and also correctly predicts his 1982 win being likely to happen.

His contribution to Snooker is criminally overlooked by the purists. He propelled the game in the 70's and was a true genius who should be in every Snooker fan's top 5 of greatest players ever.

Well said.He brought snooker into the public consciousness and it definitely wouldn't be the game it is today without Alex but he was also a very rude and unpleasant man towards the snooker authorities but I also think the powers that be were out to get him.

Intelligent and articulate man Higgins was. Would loved to have discussed snooker with him. So sad that the drink ruined him.

Davis said Higgins had the greatest snooker brain he ever played against.

Yeah I would agree with that.higgins life was snooker he was obsessed with it from a boy.he could get shots that other players would not even see or think they on.

Davis also praised Higgins for savin Davis's life. 6 guys were givin Steve a serious kickin up an alley one night when Alex appeared and said that's enough guys.

Met Alex few times in Blackburn bingo johny was his manager John MC gloghlon he was the best player I've ever seen I now live in northern Ireland and pass sandy row/ Donegal road where he came from every day

Alex was extremely articulate and intelligent. He could do the telegraph cryptic crossword in 30 minutes according to Jimmy.

He should have done the pools remarkable insight about himself - might not win it this year but I probably will next year - as you know exactly what happened - in my opinion as floored as he was he made snooker what it is today - everyone of the modern players should wake up and thank Alex every day.

Imagine how good Alex would have been if he was sober. Probably the most naturally talented player to ever play the game, but his lifestyle off the table made his form completely erratic on the table

I did hear that Alwx was also a great golfer. The only problem he had was, he used to tap his opponent on the head with his golf club before every shot 😜
