Alex Higgins vs Terry Griffiths 1987 Masters Final Frame Part 2.avi

Part 2 of the final frame. Complete with "pitch invasion" by fat drunken idiots. Having said that, crowd trouble in the modern day game would consist of a couple of teenagers drinking squash shouting things. Nobody drinks or smokes any more. They'll live longer, but don't know why they want to.

He was a genius. And a charismatic genius at that. Met him in 1993 I think, on a train from Limerick to Dublin. Made a really big deal of my disabled brother Colin at the time, even helped us take Colin's wheelchair apart to put in the boot of the cab. An absolute working class gentleman. "Don't let the bastards grind you down Colin" he said to my brother. Both of them have passed away since, Alex passed away before Colin. I'll never forget his kindness. RIP Alex

Alex Higgins is a modern snooker coaching nightmare - everything he does is “wrong” but it works...
@Floydrush-zx9wz
@Floydrush-zx9wz 3 года назад
Was going to comment the same, he "snatches" shots, leaves half the cue over the table, (when he could easily get his bridge hand on the cloth,) and don't even mention "staying perfectly still" on the shot, everything coaches tell you NOT to do, HE does, ..... just pure TALENT !! He's like the "Jedi" of snooker, just, .... "use the force!!"

Sorry this is a myth. Alex was not the greatest ever. His positional play was suspect. He was more a sideshow novelty than a showman. If he was such as showman how come his century career total is the same as Griffiths at 86? All huff and puff - did not have it mentally to do it consistently. The true greats master all aspects of the game of snooker - application, tactics, potting, composure.

@Bach Wagner Thats simply not true, in the 80s they were playing on a BCE westbury which has much bigger pockets than a regulation star table, the pro cuts on star templates are even more difficult as well.
@NothingSuitsMeLikeASuit
@NothingSuitsMeLikeASuit 4 года назад
@Bach Wagner Tables never play the same day to day, which is why you hear players comment "theyre playing like buckets" its all based on external factors (humidity, surface temperature, wear and tear, etc) as well as how the mechanics fit the tables. with how good the conditions are that the players play on, they seem to play generous at times but also keep in mind that the players are professionals and they know the tables inside out... they play the right paces and various amounts of helping side to give the balls every chance to drop. The template is always the same and trust me they are tight, ive played on them.
