Alex playing a demo track with his new trio featuring Rob Brian - Drums & Bill Banwell - Bass..... This Video was shot at RS studios in Bristol, for ROLAND UK to Promote the GT-100 effects processor.
Saw him in concert with Steven Wilson earlier this year in Belfast. It struck me how understated he was in concert. Rather than the wizard he can be he just adjusted completely into the moment and played great. perfectly but as the guitarist and not the star. A great talent
Alex is a superb guitarist! I´m always inspired by his talent and musicality. Despite that, Boss GT-100 is sounding like cheap rig! C´mon guys at Roland! You can do better!
ARE U kiding ME?..I just Posted this to my FACE booK !!! IT RIPPS!!!! WHY analyze it ?if I walked into a club And this Dude was playing this! I would Be WTF!!...Other than my self this guy (Better than me) own`s the pkup sound.......Sooooooo Good..Just as good as VH3 Clean stuff
It is not a variance in difficulty that changes your perception of "emotion". Its your preconceived notions about difficult playing and jazz itself that are causing you to miss out on a different form of music.
Is that the same pice of wood reshaped(better)since the Jam track solo sessions?? looks like it.. What a Great 1 off.......Custom to the Max! $4,500??? Neck inlay head to Jacks!
One of the most expressive guitarists Ive seen that are this technically accomplished. Amazing fusionist! Met him a few times here in Malaysia where he did Roland/BOSS demos (and I bought everything he showed off over a year or so) and he played two concerts in a local jazz club with local backing muzos and a few jams in bars here! Amazing talent; humble dude. A shining light amongst the plethora of technically accomplished guitar players out there; would like to hear him compose some more moody, perhaps indian influenced music; all this nice west coast technical guitar rock/metal stuff gets a bit same same...
Yes being a great musician is about connecting with the music, and playing what comes to you as a person emotionally, then having the skill and talent to apply that concept musically to ur instrument without thinking about the process. I'm sure Satriani is playing from his heart in his own style. He has the whole musical canvas to use and millions of fans. who is compromising for ? Britney on the other hand may have been guided down a specific road to reach someone else's goals financially ect
✨PURE EMOTION✨at its Best Alex! I'm still waiting for John Suhr to build that Signature Alex Hutchings custom like he done for Guthrie, shear excitement for sure✨✌🏻😎✌🏻
Alex Hutchings Thanks for all the very kind words my friend! I hope and pray you and your family a very happy/ safe Forth of July celebration tomorrow, and may God Bless you and your family! Peace to all ! Dana E💫
Being a good musician is playing exactly what you want to play because you love what it is you're playing, rather than compromising your own style and taste to please and accommodate others and the main stream. If you love people like Joe Satriani and Britney Spears fair enough to you, but that is not great musicianship.
so ? Then is a good misician somebody who don't cares what he is playing, but essentially playing difficult. Rather playing something meaningful that informs someting in the contemporary world. I don't wonna be a good musician... Or perhaps he is meaning i'm a good musician??? Yes.
WoW! I guess I know who Alex Hutchings is now! Top shelf Rippn /gettn down chops!!! That boogie gettn down/gettn down shred, was killer..tight lil modern day studio too !!
So that's why his guitar doesn't "neck dive"!! I was curious! Apparently your strap button isn't centered underneath the bridge and instead is more offset, enough to allow you to play comfortably with the guitar angled with the headstock at eye-level! Top drawer, my friend..... Top................. drawer. I could be wrong, but I'm tired of my guitar neck diving and having to curl my wrist up to play the neck.. ahhhh I don't want to drill into my guitar either to make for a more suitable strap button placement. I guess I'll have to stick with the alternative of using the existing neck-plate screws and placing a new strap button there so I have that comfortable angle and not the dreaded, wrist crippling neck dive. WELP, time for a bowl of cereal with Almond Milk....
the thing i don't like about alex's playing is that it seems like if he plays just to show his skills... in every jam he just try to find the most difficult pattern, instead of that one that would give more emotion....
Waghorn guitars in the UK custom make to your specs. But for a cheaper - more customisable option take a look at Kiesel guitars in USA. I was thinking of getting a WH then compared price and options to Kiesel and it was a sure thing. But its all choice taste and budget: you use the online builder. www.waghornguitars.com/ www.kieselguitars.com/
I understand that's what it seems like to players that don't enjoy the complexity quite as much but I am not getting that vibe in any way. That's what turns people away from jazz actually. People don't understand the changes and chord formations and it doesn't feel as catchy as their music so they don't understand that it is just music and is not wankery or pretension. You don't have to like it but people say this so much about great guitarists that it's just tiresome.
