Counterparts is one of my favourite Rush albums anf i love this song! Other songs off this album Animate from the R30 tour Alien Shore Double Agent Loving your Rush journey! Cheers
Couldn't agree more on how underrated Alex is. In my opinion he belongs on every list of top rock guitarists. Love the 2112 album on the wall by the way. This song came out in 1993. Another great album off of this same album I think you'll really enjoy is Double Agent.
Dame... You are my FAVORITE RUSH REACTOR! Your a passionate music lover and Musician, and, like me at your age, a Bassist who has found a ROLL MODEL in the GOAT Geddy Lee... Also... Your right about Alex... CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED! 2112 forever!
Another song you may like from this era is Driven from Test For Echo, which they performed live during their show in Rio. Cheers from Toronto! 🎤 🎸 🥁 🎸 🐐 🐐 🐐
Counter Parts was Rush getting back to their roots as a power trio, less electronic and more gritty it was immediately welcomed by the old school Rush fans that didnt like the so called synth era. Neil thought the first song on this album, Animate was one of Rush's best tunes.
Neil took some time off to ride his motorcycle all over the place. Alex is my favorite. I've had other "favorite" guitarists (like Michael Schenker), but it's temporary... I always come back to Alex. They are my favorite band ever (and has been since I was a little 12 year old girl in 1979). First concert I went to was Rush in Dallas in 1981 and I was 14 years old. My friend's brother stayed in line all night & got us 2nd row tickets, right in front of Alex & it was the best thing ever. No one writes lyrics better than Neil
this is one of my favorite songs from them. This is the first time I've seen someone do a reaction to it! I'm glad you enjoyed it. The whole Counterparts album is great, from start to finish.
Alex and Martin Barre from Jethro Tull are the two of the best underrated guitarists of this era and I think it’s because they have their own style and sound which is not mainstream of other big name rock guitarists - Paige,Clapton, Van Halen, Stevie Ray, etc. And it’s okay because there are so many people who have heard Alex and Martin’s work in their craft that gives them credibility to their playing. PS. Dive into the Jethro Tull catalog for a different experience of great music
Counterparts is a hard rockin album. It was such a refreshing shift back into the aggressive power trio sound that they had in the beginning. This was Rush from mid-late 90s. Every track is great. I especially love 'Alien Shore', the savagery and power is palpable.
This is my first time hearing this song. It smokes. Because it's Rush. Of course. I thought it was interesting that Geddy and Neil held more back than they would do with other songs. But they dialed it back just enough, because that's what the song called for. But anyway, I'm impressed as always with Rush. Thanks for the reaction!
That’s one of my favorites from Counterparts. Never played live, wished they had but didn’t. It’s pure classic “contemporary” Rush. Musically, lyrically and yes Alex COULD play like that all the time, he chooses not to instead playing to serve the song and not his lighting fast ability. When the song calls for it he delivers, if not he delivers what is appropriate for the song.🤘🖖✌️🎸🥁🎤🎹
THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THEIR LIVE SETLIST. NO ONE THAT I KNOW OF KNOWS WHY THEY DIDN'T EVER PLAY IT LIVE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND. But I love it, and I'll always be grateful for it, and better to have it than not. THANK YOU for checking out this great song!
Great song. This whole album, Counterparts, is a real banger. Can’t wait to see you do Between The Wheels. If you’re interested in “live” RUSH then you should do BTW from Snakes and Arrows live in Holland. You WON’T be disappointed. 🤘🎶
Been listening alot to rush these last 2-3years, and just now in the last 2months i've found myslef listening more to the counterparts album. Not sure why, cause a lot of the songs on this album is actually really good. Think i skipped through the songs on the album last years, but didn't really think much of it. So i guess either i didn't listen closely or my ears had to adjust and let the music grow on me. Actually found myself listening to this particular song earlier today while i was going for a walk
I just saw an amazing live performance video of theirs that is new to me (I just became a fan a few months ago). Check out 'Between the Wheels' live from the R30 tour in Germany: Heavy, dark, post-apoplyptic. My new favorite live performance video!
I saw a post about new bands you're trying to discover... Have you reacted to Europe yet? They have a song that I think you would really enjoy called In The Future To Come
Alex isn’t underrated. If a mistake occurs during a live performance it’s Alex. Just look at the mistake cacophony during the working man performance in Cleveland.
Oh ,you're listening to the greatest 3 pce orchestra in history !! Been a fan since '75 ,right from the beginning. A very very very deep rabbit hole but absolutely worth the time !! Greetings from YYZ 🇨🇦
