Not about their nerves but you can easily shatter your foot but I think it’s the fact that Alex never telegraphs his kicks he kinda flick them out there unlike other fighters who turn their hips and load up before firing the kick you know what I mean, so it’s hard to check his kicks even Jan who might have the best leg kick defence barely checked few of them
@@harindergill4358 idk about his literal leg length, but I'm 5'10 and have the leg length of somebody who is 6'3. I have a midget torso. 😂 But I am able to land similar kicks without any loading up & I'm pretty sure it's mostly to do with my legs being long af
Thing is, it impossible to check his kicks, cause you can't see them coming. He barely moves his torso or his legs before kicking. His foot just arises our of nowhere.
It has to be possible to check, Jiri was able to evade some, so checking it should be possible. I think that Alex foot is made of steel, so he doesn't care if you check it or not
@@onniruusunen9444it's not hard to understand, kickboxers unless they have a boxing heavy style will have a lighter lead leg compared to mma fighters who have to worry about takedowns.
He drop his right hand when he throws leg kicks .. but if they randomly check, that left hook is also similar action. His right hand drop for the left hook as well. It's a choice for the opponent. Left hook or calf kick. They choose calf all the time 😂
Lmao thank you someone with EYES😂😂 was looking for this comment Guy is demonstrating something completely different😂 I mean would getting slapped by someone’s foot in your calf even hurt at all? lol
@@TrumpsaTerroristChangeMyMindI have watched almost every calf kick Alex has landed in the UFC in slow motion and I can sure you that he actually lands a lot of those kicks with his foot like the guy in the video is showing. And yes, it hurts, especially if it hits you with the metatarsal bone of the big toe. That's like a small hammer hitting your calf
@@user-ki4xw2rb8q you are DEAD WRONG! Ihave alex whole career just finished watching all his career fights (only missing 1) this guy in this video is a goofy withoit a clue and apparently so are you
Bro he’s not kicking with the inside of his foot…he’s just not turning his hips all the way over so it’s a lot quicker and not telegraphed. Make sure you know what you’re talking about before posting 👍🏼
ERASE THIS VIDEO! ALEX PERERIA HIMSELF SHOWS HOW HE KICKS IN HIS INSTRUCTIONAL CALLED "TOTAL STRIKING CONTROL" he wraps top foot and toes around back of knee to hit a certain nerve HE SAYS AND SHOWS HOW TO KICK IN THE INSTRUCTIONAL!!!
Yeah it’s insane how Alex does it and still has a ton of power without using his hips to turn the kick over. Alex is a smart fighter considering turning your hips makes it so much slower to throw a kick since he doesn’t turn unless you can predict the future idk if dodging or checking his kicks are very possible
Soo he does it in an even dumber way than the op is suggesting then. Got it. 👍(For one in the video shown he indeed does use the side of his foot) but let's say he usually doesn't, if he does what you said he slamming the nerve of his ankle right into their leg. Which is also dumb, no matter how many people do it that way.

Any leg kick being checked is bad for the person throwing the kick usually. I'm sure Pereira is good enough to throw kicks with intelligence and your right he usually goes behind the knee.
@@dylanmorgan2752 What you’re saying is true, but the chances of the kick being checked it pretty low as long as you don’t become repetitive. And with a guy like Alex who is well known for his punching power, the chances are even lower because you more worried about getting caught with those hands.
@@kp00pdestroyer i mean he got caught with one punch i wouldnt call that a dismantling you know like max holloway piecing justin gaethje up for 5 rounds that was a dismantling
@@kp00pdestroyer the left hook is alex's best punch he knocked out jiri with it and izzy. i dont think theres anyone who wont be knocked down by that punch
Yeah but is that just his talent and focus or does his style of luck actually help facilitate that. I feel like if he had no choice and had to throw regular, he'd be just as good. Besides, just because he doesn't get checked often doesn't mean it doesn't have the potential to happen.
In the words of the great Cheeto Vera "Leg kick are not cool bro" 😂 literally said that after a fight where kicks were a focal point for him. The truth is they look cool, they look great even but they are scary.. At least for me when I was mma training. I was a big fan of teeping the legs. Plus I don't have the most dense bones 😅😅 so round houses to the legs was a BIG no no for me. And I didn't even know how to calf kick so that wasn't an option for me. That's why I love seeing low kicks because it's a mixture of a lot of things expertise, bone density and just a willingness to do it.🫡 Salute to all y'all low kickers
Man, they feel so cool to do as well. The way you can throw one quickly without telegraphing and keep your body back, out of range, like Izzy does. I always preferred them over traditional muay thai leg kicks. But then again, I always train with shinpads on so, besides the occasional foot injury, no big problems with checking.
Most of my injuries come from kicking peoples legs, sure I’ll land some good ones in sparring, but I’ve kicked so many knees! AND for my last fight, I switched shin guards, to the thinner venum style slip on shin guards, and without even getting checked, I damaged one of my shins badly, I couldn’t kick a bag for months! I still have a giant knot on that shin that probably won’t go away. Leg kicks are no joke! 😂
Yeah, those shots might not hurt too much at first, but the more he targets the same place, the more those shots are going to be effective. Jamal hill is definitely going to walk into a few of them this weekend @magicmike97m
@@magicmike97m Yeah correct - coming from my opinion as a Judoka - the footsweep is when you angle your foot and sweep/hit your opponents leg with the bottom of your foot. Ive done this many of times when approaching your opponent. You can sweep/hit the lead leg and more often or not you can sweep the leg and knock them off balance and then you pounce on them. its effective and has its purpose especially when you catch them when they are more on the backfoot or lifting the feet ever so slightly.
Thing is that getting check like this hurts considerably less than when you throw a normal kick and get check because you essentially have no power kicking like that, is the kicking equivalent of punching with only your arms but because is Pereira he still causes a lot of damage with it. Another thing is that is very difficult to check a kick like that because it has not telegraph, you simply can't see it coming.
UNSUBSCRIBED! how can you follow someone that doesnt know what hes looking at?? he thinks alex kicked with side foot when he clearly wrapped the top part of foot around knee!

Right! That's what I'm saying. All his kicks are wrapped around knee. I see highlights, then dudes start kicking shen trying to break it down.. I wonder how they appear to miss that. It looks like he hooks the knee every time
Love your channel! I’m not sure this one is exactly as you’re doing. Years before the calf kick got popular (I’m a coach) I used to sweep people’s leg. When I missed the sweep it would hurt the shit out of their calf. Thus “discovering” it was powerful before it got cool. But I wasn’t confident... I thought “there must be a reason they don’t do it in Muay Thai”. I was wrong. lol. But… but …. Try the sweep and adjust from there. I think this might give you the angle. Keep up the awesome work!
Its quite brilliant because first of all, its hard to check them because they're not telegraphed at all. Second of all, even if they do get checked, Pereira doesnt put much force into his kicks so getting checked will barely hurt him
easy solution: just aim for his ankle or knee and he is much less likely to check that kick. not in a single one of your examples Alex aimed for his opponent's chin...
Nunca rompiste una madera para hacer fuego con la pata? Eso en LATAM es moneda corriente, tenés los pies de hierro después, sin contar lo que jugás al fútbol, y vas a trancar o te paren el pelotazo, uffff dolor, pain, agonía

@@trantorthetroll8768 it doesn’t mean little, even just having a single ufc fight is an amazing accomplishment for a fighter. 95% of fighters don’t even get there. Not everybody is going to be a huge star like pereira, doesn’t mean they don’t understand fighting really well

The noise when your foot lands 😂 Alex' timing is so crazy and he doesnt telegraph one bit, so its hard to check that, but I would like to see someone check it 😂
It’s not even a soccer shot its more of a soccer pass (Bc I like kicking upwards onto the leg which is more similar to a soccer shot {I also do other kicks to the leg but that one is nice to get a reaction with}) So basically he’s literally passing the ball and the ball being ur leg I dont practice it bc Im more comfortable the ways I do leg kicks and thats why I practice those (like going up and down to chop is a technique I also find very nice or doing the chambering rlly clean is also nicr or in a rectangle movement or sometimes I just throw it without much movement or force to test waters and such so I practice those kind of leg kicks) I think it’s also nice to work the knees if u dont throw it like pereira Obv I dont know everything and it seems to work well so yea
In soccer, that side if done right can generate alot of power for a shot but yet also accurate. And also, not as painful as may seem. “If done right” I completely see where alex is going with this.
He uses the very end of his shin and instead of turning like the traditional claf kick (I love how that’s a term now) he hits with the side of his leg with the bone while keeping his leg mostly straight
Um... I think it hurts way less compared to shin to shin. Did you see what happened to Anderson Silva when his calf kick got checked? It snapped his shin. Your foot is way safer 😅

Oh also how would u feel about uploading just u working out on bags and on circle training and whatever Id love to see that and you wouldn’t have to cut it but u could generate views that way fairly easy Not many do it or sell it but doing that on yt would be like an investment and you could still sell courses and such and dont have to show or explain much while working out or leak anything that would be in a course Idk give it a thought maybe try it out unless ure too busy or have other ideas
This thing is though that he doesn’t telegraph his kicks whatsoever. You can’t check what you never see coming, and you can’t just fight with your shin turned out for kicks the whole fight
The reason he's able to do that is because he is a world champion kick boxer and his kicks are not telegraphed at all... Nobody knows they are coming when he throws them.. or they would check them.. he's too fast. That's how he can get away with it
WRONG. He squares his hips throws his kick and mid kick turns his lead foot while already having his rear leg in motion (backwards setup technically) Instead of traditionally stepping to the side to open his hips to whip a leg kick That’s why nobody sees it because there’s no tell or setup
He doesn’t need to worry about that for two reasons : - it’s very sneaky,no telegraph from him Very difficult to check something you can’t see. -mental pressure from his punch, his opponent’s attention must also focus on avoiding that left hook.
Alex is on a different level of technical understanding. He's been at legendary status around the world for years and years and years. He knows exactly what he's doing
As square as he is, he's coming at their leg almost like a hook so if they do turn the leg to check he is still targeting the outside of the calf on their lead leg, not the shin. Its almost less risky than shin to shin where the kicker bares the brunt if it is checked.
i've been throwing calf kicks and shin checks like this since my early childhood. Too bad my family never allowed me to actually train as a kid. i'd have beaten CM punk
Alex is Brasilian, they all play soccer there. His calf kicks are classic football/soccer pass kicks. If you look closer the main impact on Alex' foot is in his heel and ankle with the front of his foot going around the leg
That’s what makes Alex’s calf kicks great tho it’s the fact he’s able to do it sneakily an the opponent barely checks it throughout the fight it’s incredible
The indigenous Brazilians climb trees, much like other indigenous tribes who reside within rainforests, via the inside of their feet. Much like Thai kickboxers train their shins on trees, over the years of climbing trees the inside of the foot is hard as fuck!
He is kind of looping his heel round a bit to dig the calf with his heel super accurately, not easy to see it, imagine wearing a boot and you calf kick them with the inside corner bit of the heel that's what he's doing. Not instep of foot which is tendon and muscle.
