No one ever said he couldn't field. The dude was a complete 5 tool player. And to think he moved from SS to 3B to accommodate Jeter (who was a considerably worse defender than A-Rod), he did extremely well
Out of all the Yankees I grew up watching in the 2000’s the guys I miss watching the most are Arod and Tex. Amazing players with a killer instinct, never knew how much I’d miss watching these guys now that they are retired
His throwing arm is so strong and accurate-- and it seems that his sidearm style helps with keeping the ball out of the dirt for he 1st baseman- like a sidearm rising fastball
A-Rod was the best shortstop and was in the top 2 or 3 third basemen in baseball. I can only think of Eric Chavez and Adrian Beltre, may have been slightly better defensively, but neither had to transition from shortstop. And he definitely was a better hitter than both of them.
He was a great defensive player, and base runner, not just a great hitter. Never saw him get thrown out when taking an extra base. Also, many of his stolen bases were when team needed a runner in scoring position, late in game.
ONLY STUPID HATERS SAY THAT AROD COULDN’T FIELD. WHOEVER KNOWS ABOUT BASEBALL KNOWS AROD WAS A 5 TOOLS PLAYER. THE GUY WAS A GOLD GLOVE WINNER. But ofcourse most haters are ignorant.
"And people say Arod can't field" really? He was always a solid third baseman. ABOVE AVERAGE. Made real nice play from time to time. Almost always made the routine plays. Always had a great arm. Took playing short stop to a hole new level. No ones says Arod can't field!
I don’t care what anyone thinks Alex Rodriguez is the best 3rd baseman of all time and a top 3 player ever. Idc if he used steroids, not like he beat a woman or committed murder
Nah the best 3rd baseman of all time is and always will be Brooks Robinson 18× All-Star (1960-1974) 2× World Series champion (1966, 1970) AL MVP (1964) World Series MVP (1970) 16× Gold Glove Award (1960-1975) most by any fielder except a pitcher Greg Maddux had 18 Roberto Clemente Award (1972) AL RBI leader (1964) Baltimore Orioles No. 5 retired Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame Major League Baseball All-Century Team
Man was a beast you can't deny it !! Too bad that steroids crap overshadowed his talent and legacy. Great commentator as well, enjoy listening to him talk baseball. Hopefully the baseball community will forgive him one day
History will be kind to A-Rod.. for as everyone said he was self-centered, he was the best player in the world and moved positions. Lets not forget that. And he was FAR better fielder than Jeter.
Who said he can’t field? Guy was the best SS in baseball and was forced to moved to 3rd by the diva Jeter, I’m a yankee fan and Jeter cost them many games with his “defense”
I think Alex move to the DH position has not favored him play defense keeps it warm and active. Play as DH is not his manner toward and has lowered its pace
Buddy a guy older than 35 can't be at third. Cause his body takes a beating. It would of forced him out sooner. When a guy hits, 35 they ship them to 1 st base. Then? When he hits 37 38 39 dh. Cause the wear and tear on an older body is huge. 40 plus, pinch hitting, till he quits, that's only if they owe big money or, he was a great player. Jeter, Ortiz Rodriguez texeria. Average guy, 250 4 -7 hrs 20 rbi 35 36 37 released.
Creo que mover a Alex a la posicion de DH no le ha favorecido, jugar defensa lo mantiene caliente y activo. Jugar como DH no es su costubre y ha bajado su ritmo
I stick to my guns I played third base too.and some are routine normal plays without the need to diving for the ball don't you know how to cacht a ball sideways or what.
Roids don't help fielding a ground ball or making a good throw at all. Just like steroids don't help you make contact. Yes it gives him more strength and power but it doesn't help with making contact or mechanics. In my opinion he's one of the best to ever play the game and has over 3000 hits. He should easily be put in the hof.
Let me question something do you know where you will go after you die? If not let me say you can have a choice to either go to hell or heaven see 2000 years ago there was this man named Jesus who died on the cross for our sins and rose alive 3 days later all because he truly loved us he died for us so I question you now do you truly believe in Jesus or do you live for the world turn to Jesus Christ trust in him Christ has way much more to give than the world he loves us turn to Christ
you can say all you want did he cheated making it to the mlb did he cheated hitting 300 hits did he cheated hitting 700 did he cheated hitting 3,000 I dont think so pluse he apologize and asked for forgiveness and promised never to do it again also when he came back he stop cheating
