Let’s not forget how good he was at shortstop as well. And that third was not his natural position. He ended his career at third after spending majority of it at short. Incredible to make such a transition and be this good. Easily in the conversation as one of the best defensive third basemen.

@@ew7074 Jeter always made the play when you needed him to. Cano sometimes choked in big spots, particularly in the playoffs. There’s only one legend among Jeter, cano, tex and Arod and it’s Jeter.

Agreed and im not a yankees fan and couldnt stand A Rod. But it reminds me to think twice before hating on any athlete because i regret not recognizing greatness in the moment. He would've been HOF material without roids; along with Barry Bonds, and Mark McGwire. I played D1 baseball and worked my way from a JUCO to be heavily recruited. I saw many guys in JUCO go from "swinging a wet newspaper" to launching missiles. Very glad I never gave in to the temptation that many other guys gave in to. With that being said, the guys I personally knew who were juicing weren't top echelon players/prospects like the guys I named. If Barry Bonds wouldn't have juiced, he would've been a 40-40 guy year in & year out.

So that being said, why aren't A-Rod, Barry Bonds & ESPECIALLY Pete Rose not in the HOF??! That's a crime IMHO and I am against steroids. I also know how hard it is to compete at a high level in baseball, steroids or not.

The best play he made was the inning before Jeter dove into the stands. Arod made a diving play with the bases loaded, tagged third with his glove and then made a side arm throw over the head of the runner going home. It was amazing but nobody remembers because of the Jeter dive. Nothing against that dive, it was awesome and I was there. But that was also one hell of play by Arod too.

@@joqqeman This situation might be the only time I would ever "sac bunt" with a non-pitcher hitting. 95% of the time you see it, it's a wasted AB. But being in extra innings of a tie game changes the situation. The math says you're ever so more likely to score 1 run. Normally that trade off isn't worth it, because you're less likely to score twice, and much less likely to score three or more times. But when getting that one run wins you the game? Or at the very least leaves your opponent with only three outs to go? It adds up. Even with a +110 OPS hitter. Lets just ignore the fact it was a shitty bunt :-P

That double play vs the Red Sox with bases loaded and he thought he turned a triple play, was a great play. Great stop and a great throw home by ARod. I think it was his first season at 3rd too!

One of his best was the double play he turned in the “Jeter Dive” game against Boston in 2004. Bases loaded, great play to field the ball, step on third, and throw from his knees over the head of the runner going from third to home to nail him at the plate.

He's up there with one of the greatest juicers of all time. The juice era was such an exciting time. Canseco got a lot of hate for spilling the beans but he was pretty good and fun to watch in his prime. Makes you really appreciate how special some pitchers like Pedro and Maddux really were to be dominating during that era of the juice boys

Remember a-rod joining the Yankees. Told the Yankees he wanted to play SS but jeter was SS, there was no way he was starting over jeter. So he trained himself to play 3rd base and I think that worked out in his favor.

No way. Bonds, Clemens, McGwire, and A-Rod tarnished the game and people can’t forget that. He’s grown as an individual and accepted responsibility. But he’s gone from the GOAT conversations. Guys like Griffey and Maddox did it the right way and deserve to be remembered as all time greats.

All these guys are super athletes which normal people like us can never imagine to be. Remember he was forced to third when he went to the Yankees due to Jeter. He loved shortstop but had to learn 3rd base. Changing positions isn't always easy even if its just a little to his right.

I’ll never forget when cal Ripken was retiring. A rod was on the rangers and he the game was in Seattle so the fans booed him every second but he let Ripken play SS and A Rod played 3rd base. Ripken hit a home run and it was great to see a legend finish off like that while A Rod was in his prime. Then A Rod was going to come here to Boston. Instead, he became a god damn Yankee!
