Alex Smith looks back on the intense pressure he put on himself as the No. 1 NFL draft pick and the rookie QB charged with fixing the 49ers ailments. Smith says his fear of making mistakes and the pressure to be perfect led to a poor rookie season and that over the years he’s learned to take a different approach.

Damn, I purposely left this clip of the series for last. I absolutely love the guy, the QB, and mostly the COMPETITOR AND LEADER! Watching his entire career, the immediate mountain of expectations in a historic franchise, as a decade later QB prince after 2 HOF SB MVP Legends. He finally gets his due chance considering all the OC changes, he gets an unfortunate injury and loses his job to a flash in the pan. Now, even w/ a 28 point blown lead in the 2013 WC Playoff to my Colts, and another heartbreak last season, he's wielding the sledgehammer this season. I'm all aboard. I'd love to see him get it done this February. People don't realize how dangerous his early situation was. If not for his intelligence, drive, humility, and determination, he'd be atop bust lists w/ Russell and Leaf. Get a ring 11.

As a Chiefs fan I'm glad we have a franchise QB now. But I'll always be thankful for the stability Alex Smith brought to KC, helping Mahomes become a QB1, taking us from a miserable laughing stock to consistent playoff threat. He deserved more than us jobbing out to Tennessee at home in the playoffs. Hope to see him play again, but whatever he ends up doing, dude deserves the success and has earned respect.

I'm a Raven's fan but, I love Alex as a Qb, with a steady and, disciplined approach to leading his team to who they've become over the years despite the Ws/Ls. Truth be told the chiefs really should've be to a Super bowl by now but, I'm guessing he just needs to really just say fuck it and, go for broke ,I'd bet the chiefs would win and , he'd be the MVP. Seriously but, now he's got to worry about this new Qb they've drafted and,talk so much about soon as the offense gos 3and out..... Talk about pressure , Fuck it.

lmao, you are in the wrong this time why?? first of all that is how money is made over youtube second the videos are put in order in a playlist on his channel, heck the playlist is always in the recommendations. finally, i like this format better, because it takes a topic and you focus on that alone

I hate the niners but I said to my buddy who's a huge niner fan that taking ALEX out for COLIN is a huge mistake but he thought Colin was a better quarterback with more upside and I told them they were gonna regret it but they don't LISTEN ALEX put them in the position to win the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME and go the SUPER BOWL and the kick returner blew the game it wasn't ALEX fault you can't blame that game on him

If i was good enough player, i wouldn’t even go to a draft, i’d just let all the teams approach me, and then i’d sign for the option... why play the game and end up in some crappy team.
@velvetarcade6017

pepehorne I don’t think you have that choice. When you are eligible to join the NFL, I’m pretty sure you are required to declare for the draft.

As a Child & Family Therapist, I can tell you that by Alex's lack of eye contact and the way he subconsciously shakes his head "NO" when he's talking about the positive things he's done recently shows that these issues still weigh on him subconsciously despite the "F*ck it" attitude. Spiritually, he's an emapth, which means he absorbs and feels the emotions of people around him, including the fans. This is partly the reason why he spreads the ball around to his receivers because he doesn't want any of his teammates to feel left out of the game. As a huge, life-long Chiefs fan, I'd love to see Alex shake his head "YES" when he's talking positive about himself. He needs to thoroughly BELIEVE what he's saying, but subconsciously, he's saying the opposite. Alex was born on May 7, 1984. He's a Taurus and most likely has his Moon in Leo and his Ascendant in Gemini. Fellow Taurus QB's include Cam Newton and Jay Cutler. As a Taurus, he'll diligently work as hard as ever to achieve his goals. He's very practical which may have given him the unfortunate label of being a "game manager", He's also very reliable and can be counted on by his closest friends and family. Taurus is ruled by Venus which means Alex enjoys many of the finer things in life but not necessarily in a materialistic kind of way. He works hard at keeping a great relationship with his wife and children as these are as equally important to him as his NFL career. Being a Taurus with a Moon in Leo suggests there is stubbornness while his Ascendant in Gemini allows him to at least openly see both sides of the coin in regard to being stubborn. He has an unusually high 6 planets in retrograde (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto). Each one of these planets represent different challenges... too many to fully write about here. In short, Mars brings repressed feelings. Jupiter brings pessimism. Saturn brings insecurity. Uranus brings big shifts in life. Neptune makes Alex take on a lot of unnecessary blame for other people's decisions. Pluto tell us that Alex is basically open about everything to only his closest of friends and family. He hides his feelings to protect himself and others. At least he doesn't have a perpetual Mercury in retrograde...lol His Life Path number is a 7, which is ideal for being a QB because he's able to analyze situations quickly and accurately, but it also means he puts a lot of pressure on himself. He doesn't have a lot of close friends but the ones he has are genuine and have earned his respect. In his personal time, he prefers to be with family and sometimes alone. In an honest Briggs Myers personality evaluation, he's most likely and INFP or an INFJ (more introverted than extroverted). He tends to question things but is more likely to stand behind his own truth than to follow the flock. A Life Path 7 is also pessimistic and secretive, which means it might seem like Alex is telling you the whole story, but many times, he's telling you MOST of it but is protecting himself by not telling you everything until he's developed trust in you. He's easy going and has a great sense of intuition, which was part of his problem with the 49ers. He was spot on in saying the organization was dysfunctional while he was there as there are no NFL teams that I'm aware of that use Spiritual Psychology to look at each person from a psychological and spiritual connection to help analyze their strengths and weaknesses that will not show up in a stat line. In numerology, Alex is 33 years old. 33 is a master number, so I expect he'll have a huge year this year. On a side note, my daughter was conceived on my 33rd birthday! It's also interesting to note that Alex's uniform number is a master number, 11. My recommendations: Alex is at the point in his career where he doesn't need to prove anything to anyone. Professionally, he simply needs to stay within his own game no matter what anyone else thinks. While his own critique helps to fire him up, it can also be his worst enemy. Alex needs to shake his head "YES" when he talks positively about himself and his team. I'd recommend that Alex finds time to GROUND, thus clearing himself from absorbing so much of EVERYTHING around him. Good luck, Alex, and GO CHIEFS!!! Gregg Prescott, M.S. In5d.com

keep in mind the Man was the YOUNGEST NFL player to be drafted at 19.(2005) and had already graduated with a BACHELOR'S DEGREE in ECONOMICS. I'm an ENFJ and I see that he is still an Economical person, very thinkative and super conscious of his surroundings (Macro level), he makes for a great Strategist. I think he will have a great career as a GM as Bill Belichick also holds an Economics degree. 9er fan who was in the 1% minority of being against his benching in SF... Colin(ENTP) was too much of a WR and not a QB and an.Pat Mahomes(ISTP) seems like he might be teaching Alex throwing power too. I've noticed a difference in Smith's power, I've seen that his vision and mechanics changed up similar to that of Mahomes and MAHOMES vision and motions have changed into that of Smith's. Obvious Mahomes and Smith have a way better open relationship than Smtih and Kapernick did.

@dylanbaeza1691
@dylanbaeza1691 6 лет назад
If Rodgers had gone to the 49ers, his career could have easily mimicked Smith's because of the rotunda of offensive coordinators and head coaches Alex had in the first part of his career. Rodgers inherited a team that was built for Favre to succeed, so a competent defense and great offense, plus a consistent head coach-- not to mention time behind Favre to prepare and learn. Some people have no ability to reason and it's amazing you're able to get through a day and not get yourself killed lmao jesus christ
