Alexander Bay is a small coastal town near the border with Namibia. It's also known by it's Afrikaans names Alexanderbaai. The town seemed very quiet and peaceful when I was there, almost a little deserted. I wanted to go and see the Bay but unfortunalely, I was told by locals that my car simply wouldn't make it on the road, I think it requires a 4X4. Historically speaking the town has a long history of diamond and copper mining.
