Two things to note: 1. I didn't put ads on this video if you see any. That is RU-vid's doing and I apologize for the inconvenience. I make no money off of these ads and I wouldn't want to even if I could. 2. There are some orchestration differences between the score and the music. 7:18 notates that just horns play the second subject while the music features clarinets and horns (?). 15:10 meanwhile notates the first violin line playing the melody while the recording has the oboe play it. I agree with the orchestration changes but I do not know if they were made by Glazunov, made by someone else, or even just errors. Thanks!
Glazunov revised the symphony twice during his lifetime so the differences in orchestration are his. There's a 1929 recording of Glazunov conducting his ballet "The Seasons" , which is worth hearing since it's his only recording as a conductor.
Tante volte a me basta che una musica sia godibile. E Glazunov ha scritto una sinfonia molto piacevole. Che importa se è giovanile? È un pezzo valido e tanto basti.
Thank you for your kind words as always! I just don't think I have the skills to write my own symphony yet. Though that certainly hasn't stopped me from thinking about it! I think I'd be better off writing smaller scale pieces first and then writing for orchestra when I'm ready.
