Round 13 of the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament just got over, and with that Anish Giri's chances of winning the candidates also got over. Sasha as usual was a king during his post match interview, where he talked about how he was planning to terrorize Anish with a draw. He also opened up on the double round robin format of the tournament.

I bet one of reason because Sasha gangsta/thugster trait & still a humorous guy while at the same time can be very serious. Her laugh also natural even if she's trying to control it to certain degree. I mean outside public area, I bet she's laugh as much as she can if Sasha around.

@panda4247
@panda4247 3 года назад
Yes and no. the candidates tournament is supposed to select the best challenger for Magnus. Objectively, Alekseenko would not stand a chance against MC. No disrespect. just facts. Wesley So would have been more relevant (in terms of chances of beating MC), but he did not qualify... So apparently the system is flawed. Round robin with questionable eligibility criteria and wildcards...
@u.v.s.5583
@u.v.s.5583 3 года назад
@@panda4247 Wait a moment! What is flawed is the assumption that the selection procedure guarantees to select the objectively best guy. No, it is just a system which selects a guy who will play the match, and this system involves playing some chess, that's it! The system also involves politics, and the organizers wanted their man in the tournament, hence Alekseenko. Had FIDE declined a single national federation to assign a wild card, it would certainly be better from a sports perspective, but never underestimate the political side of big sports. And, to reiterate, my point was simply that the candidates tournament is not meant to select the most ideal opponent for Carlsen. Just to select an opponent. It has done the job. Hurray!
@panda4247
@panda4247 3 года назад
@@u.v.s.5583 :) I was replying to the OP, apparently my reply took long enough to type that you typed your before.. so it may seem as if I replied to you. anyway. "the candidates tournament is not meant to select the most ideal opponent for Carlsen. Just to select an opponent" --> That's exactly the problem. It is supposed to select the best opponent, and in its current form it only selects an opponent. The politics side of is another thing... Russians did everything to ensure a Russian would win (implanted Alekseenko, did not postpone the tournament in March 2020, so Radjabov withdrew and Ding had a terrible 1st half...). but I am not talking about the politics here. The whole round robin system is inherently flawed just to select A challenger. Not THE challenger. Knockout matches would have been much better.
@u.v.s.5583
@u.v.s.5583 3 года назад
@@panda4247 In knockout format a guy named Ponomariev once became The World Chess Champion. He was not the best player. He was just the player who won the KO tournament called World Championship. Hence KO systems are inherently flawed for the same reasons, only much more so. Of course, this too is just an opinion. Peace out!
