I don't know what everyone else is saying. This interviewer was spot on and asked the hard hitting questions I wanted to hear from such an esteemed modern director I admire.

alexander payne is cool cuz he has the integrity to make the films he wants (and they're great films) instead of just trying to get paid a lot of studio money - that's amazing - respect!!

I wish he didn’t cut my speaking part out of the very end of The Descendants.. I was seriously the happiest character in that entire film!

I see a few people busting on the interviewer. I differ somewhat. He does well especially in the first hour or so. He seems to let Alexander talk and tries to urge him to elaborate. But, I agree he loses it somewhat toward the end. Too many: Yea, yea, uh huh, yea, yeah. I'd give him a C+. Alexander, what a gifted talent he has.

Interviewers have to be some of the most overly-criticized people out there. Give Kenneth Turan a break. There's a word for people who use verbal tics like "yeah, yeah" a lot in conversation: "human."
