Sasha being very humble here. It's true that Carlos changed his tactics and kinda took the wind out of his sails. But he needn't blame his physical condition. He works hard. Being almost 2 metres tall he will never be as dynamic as Carlos. It's simple biomechanics.

I'm not sure he will. He's had a great career even if he retires today, but he might end up being part of the "lost generation" of major level guys who never win one; or only win a single major. Guys like him and Tsitsipas, Ruud etc, are all guys who have had their careers bookended by the big 3 and now the emergence of Alcaraz/Sinner. Plus I don't think Djokovic can be written off, it still won't surprise me if he gets back to form and wins another couple of majors. And it looks like being a few promising kids coming through too. Zverev is 27 now so he's prob got about 16-20 more attempts at majors before physical decline is likely. In the open era he's definitely a major winning level player, but there are no guarantees.

One thing that's hardly ever mentioned is that Zverev is type 1 diabetic, which is crazy to think of when you know how much someone with that condition has to worry about his energy level and then, in Zverev's case, also managing to play elite level tennis at the final of a grand slam! Why do you need the human element eliminated? Ask yourself that. You are fine with two humans PLAYING and making mistakes, but you have issue with a human linesperson or ref. In RG they do not use hawkeye technology, and that is for a reason. On clay you can clearly see the mark of the ball on the ground, while the hawkeye technology is not infalible, it has a standard deviation of 3,26 mm. Go check it on the internet. The marks on the ground are much more accurate than the hawkeye is, stop this bullshit complaints On top, Alcaraz took some bad calls also while serving, and had to repeat the points because the line umpire would call out, the guy in the chair would check the mark and overrule. Of course those serves that were in did not count, and he had to repeat the serve. The difference is that he took it like a man and accepted the bad call

@@jonbonesmahomes7472 his game is like Agents in The Matrix. His repertoire is limited (in comparison) but he’s honed it to perfection. It’s not enough, though, when facing Neo(s). His only chance is being consistent on very high level and pounce on every dip in performance or mentality the better players have. It was very nearly enough today because Carlos didn’t play anywhere near his best.

Got tired in the 4th and 5th sets. Standing too far back from the baseline and not being able to create deep & power shots which allowed Alcaraz to hit winners and drop shots. It was was pretty much over by the end of the 4th set. No matter what, there's no chance for Zverev against a healthy Alcazaz who's superfast and poewerful with incredible defense capability.

Sascha was obviously robbed today, and I don't care if people want to say "he would have lost anyway". You don't know that. The Sinner v Tsitsipas Monte Carlo semi is the perfect example of the problem it causes when umpires ignore Hawk-Eye when a player double faults on break point. In Sinner's match, he was already up a break, and was denied a double break due to the umpire ignoring Tsitsipas double-faulting on break point. That blatant unfairness messed with Sinner's mind and body and he lost that match. It's even worse for Sascha because he didn't have a break, so getting the break back he deserved for 2-2 was crucial in the final set. 2-2 and 1-3 are NOT the same thing. Everyone was with Sinner with his injustice, rightfully so, I don't get how more people aren't with Sascha on this. It's absolutely shameful.

Carlos could've had this in 4 sets as he threw away the 3rd set after failing to serve it out. No chance would this have been 3 sets though, Zverev reeled off 5 straight games from 2-1 down in the 2nd set to win it 6-2, Sascha deserved that 2nd set for sure.

Sasha was the one to beat this year. Carlos did a great job (too many drop shots imo) and as a Spaniard I'm happy. I felt Sasha a bit tired (the player with most hours on court) but he is one of the hardest to play. If he had a GS on his bag before this final, maybe the result could have been different. Alcaraz has three of three finals and those things matter.

First of all, after 3 sets, Zverev was in the control of the match... which I watched in its entirety. While acknowledging how strong Alcaraz finished, physically, and how Sasha lost some power in his legs in the final two sets... it was a BIG deal at a CRITICAL point for 2 all in the 5th, he gets robbed of the break, by an umpire who apparently cannot look at a mark that was clearly out... and make the correction. (Sasha did everything he could to show the umpire how to view it, but he ignored him... and Sasha kept muttering to himself, "No way"... repeatedly. It had to affect him.) So along with that, if one goes back and looks at the numerous times Alcaraz literally pulled the rabbit out of the hat, with either desperation or very low % shots to win critical points, it was either absolutely amazing... or... he was quite lucky... or both. I think Carlos is an amazing player and certainly deserves the Trophy, but I equally think the match could have gone either way, on another day.

It was a great match. The press and sore losers of course love the narrative of line calls, but those who play Tennis or sport in general understand that champions are not born from one missed call. Making the argument shows a complete lack of respect for the game or Sport in general. One shot which was replayed in a match of 100's of points does not make a difference. It just doesn't. Let us then talk of all the missed shots Sasha made. All the errors. So please. Stop the madness.

Nothing against Alcaraz, love him as a player and his demeanor. But i have more respect for Zverev in this loss than i have appreciation for Alcaraz's win. Primarily because an umpire mistake seemed to make such a huge difference in the outcome of the 5th set. Zverev is being forged by these challenges, as as we grow throughout our lives and into the next, that is what matters the most. The reporters did their dirty work in the post semi-final press conference, and Zverev showed tons of character then and now. Mad respect for Alexander Zverev. When Zverev unleashes the potential of his first serve, even Alcaraz has no chance.

This is one of the few matches that left me frustrated and wondering : frustrated about the wrong service call, and wondering about how the rest of the match might have gone if the correct call had been made. Sascha won the next game, so instead of Carlos leading 3-2 Sascha would have led 3-2 and the dynamics of the rest of the set may have changed. It’s CRAZY to have hawkeye technology, and not to use it, especially at Grand Slam tournaments. This decision possibly changed the course of the final set, and perhaps Sascha would have lifted the trophy at the end of it if the Roland Garros management hadn’t made such a crazy decision..🤯🤮🤯

You don't watch tennis often, do you. Coz you know, in tennis you gotta win a little more than just ONE game. Last time I checked, you have to win at least 18 games in one match (men's). Dynamics this and that, sure, but Sascha was winning 2 sets to 1 and then stopped playing, won only 3 games out of last 15, basically got his ass handed to him. You think hawk eye tech will help whining old cry boys like him to win grand slam titles? Better think harder...

@@karl6657 I do indeed watch tennis often, and I play tennis as well. Winning several games on the trot in tennis does not mean that you will win the match.
