She's ALREADY a legend. She was the first in history to perform five quadruple jumps, she is in the Guinness Book of Records. I hope she accepts her silver medal. No athlete is immune from a nervous breakdown. Don't forget that she's still human.

Thanks for posting this. I wish Nathan Chen would call Trusova and explain to her that there's more to skating than jumps. With more work on her basic skating skills and better programs she would be unbeatable. I hope she's healthy and continues to train and compete.

@@dei4tube she has good muscle and she's strong, stronger than a lot of those young girls who pull of quads by flinging their light bodies into the air... i hope that means that she'll be a little more resilient. i at least hope she is smart with her training and doesn't overwork herself. she could last at least to another olympics if her team doesn't run her into the ground, or if she doesn't do it herself.
@SkyeAten

Unlikely... I've been a fan of the Russian girls since Evgenia but the way they are trained, and the amount of jumps they do, means that they do not skate much past 18. They're bodies just can't sustain it. They will not be able to do these kind of jumps for the next Olympics. But never fear, there will be new Russian girls from Eteri Tutberidze. She said herself in an interview that she is a factory and the girls are her products. At first I was shocked, but some Russian girls on IG said, they don't see any problem with that.

She has really defined and functional muscles for a female athlete, which will protect her from getting injured easily. Unlike other girls, her quades come from her muscle strength and do not solely rely on the light body weight and the pre-pubescent physique. If anyone is gonna have career longevity, I believe it would be her. As long as she doesn’t overtrain herself and keep going, she’s gonna make it!

Trusova became the second lady to land a quad ever in 2018 at age 13 and then accrued the 4 non-loop quads in a period of 1.5 years and landed all of them internationally by age 15. @ruzaroos
@ruzaroos 2 года назад
They could have let her skate the team event. Which of the 3 they chose for the team didn't really matter and she could have gotten a Gold that way. Now the whole team is at risk because they put Kamila in when they didn't need to.
@mht4908
@mht4908 Год назад
@@ruzaroos Same thing with the US team, I don't understand why they put only one female skater for the team when they could've easily fit 2, the Russian team only had 6 people when they could've put Sasha in the free skate. Even if she does have a fall, her technical score would be at least 20 points ahead of the 2nd place finisher (Kaori Sakamoto) that it wouldn't have affected the overall results. Assuming that Kamila gets acquitted, then all the 3 girls would get a gold medal. The US team also could've put Mariah Bell in the free skate instead of Karen since she seems to be more consistent, yet they only went with one skater and denied either Mariah or Alysa an Olympic silver

It a hard question. It is a balance between art and athletic ability. Those that favor Jumps and those part of the skill, will say she won. She had a historic number of Quads. Those that favor the more artistic side of the sport, will say it was a correct decision. I thought Trusova won. But I am not surprised she took the silver. It depended on what the judges liked. I could care less about what she said immediately after she got silver. She had hopes for Gold. She was SO close. It was a let down. She was upset. She is a fierce competitor. A lot of stress this week, more than normal with the doping scandal. I am surprised one of the skaters haven't thrown something at the press by now. I also hope she will be back.

Not all of Sasha's quad jumps were perfectly clean, fully rotated. Her component scores were very low because she simply did not contribute to her GOE's. The opportunity was there, yet her program lacked greatly in choreography. Slamming out a quad, after, quad like a tennis ball machine doesn't guarantee that she will hit each one accurately, just like the tennis player needs to hit the sweet spot on their tennis racquet in order to hit the ball over the net, and within bounds in order to make it count and score points. Sasha's Short program scores (which also greatly lacked component GOE points) were carried over and added to the Ladies Free Skate programs. Anna simply scored the highest, therefore, Anna is the Ladies Olympic Figure Skating Champion.

Yes she is an icon, her free skate at the olympics was the best she has done this year, landing 5 quads, gaining a new season's best, even off the ice she has such an interesting personality, but at the same time she's also just a 17 year old who has sacrificed a lot of her life to this sport. the amount of stress she had to be under for the last couple of years, the pain and fear she might have felt... i hope it hasn't been to much for her take your time to rest and heal, take some time for yourself bc you have given so much of yourself already. and come back whenever you feel ready. i hope i can still see a lot from her.

Sasha Trusova is my favorite of all three Russian female figure skaters. I just think she is so fierce and not afraid. I believe Kamila Valieva is probably the greatest female figure skater of all time. It broke my heart to see the entire world bully and break her online in their shameful relentless attacks of a 15 year old girl. Now Anna Shcherbakov is absolutely phenomenal as well. She has such elegance and grace on the ice. It was a toss up between her and Sasha for gold in my opinion. I thought Sasha may have deserved it though but only by a hair. But in the end my favorite of all three is Sasha. I just want to see all three competing again. The three of them are the three best female figure skaters of the last couple years and nobody can argue that.

Lipnitskaya and Medvedeva were maybe the most organic skaters, trusova is the most technically gifted and muscle scater. But tbh the best scaters of all time will be the girl who could compete at least on 2 olympic games. But for now Kamila stands on the same level as Lipnitskaya, Zagitova, Trusova and so on imo. I probably think that Trusova could be the first who goes on 2 olympics and if there she gonna get gold, she would be absolute GOAT scater

I first saw her training in 2018, she caught my attention for wanting to try quads when no one else was doing it (and the fact that she loved Game of Thrones and her favorite character was Dany -just like me! Haha-). From that moment on, I cheered for her in every competition and admired her desire to make history rather than just winning. But now I realize how many people discredit her just because she doesn't place first in important competitions, even president Putin didn't mention her because she was silver, despite landing 5 quads in the Olympics. It must be frustrating for her...I hope Sasha realizes she doesn't need gold to make a statement and to make history. She already changed the sport by starting the Quad Revolution. Hail to the quad queen.

@@unicoh7 Well said. All of the jumps have set base values, so she did get the credit for every jump she landed. She needs to pay more attention to her grades of execution, too. She can be sloppy. GOEs and component scores have always been a huge part of the scoring, which is why Nathan Chen is now a multiple world champion and Olympic champion with clean technique and upgraded artistry while Jin Boyang was never either despite being the first to land four quads. It's no secret. I hope she learns the right lesson from this Olympics instead of letting it kill her fire to win and feeling robbed for the rest of her life. Normal skater would play it safe by not putting the 3A due to low success rate but Sasha being who she is, she still went for it.

I love Sasha so much! And I totally understand where she is coming from, why she is so genuinely confused. I think I know the answer to her question. First of all, I think she indeed SHOULD have won the Gold. It's so hard to say that, though, because Anna's performance really was near-perfect. Honestly? If the scoring in figure skating was not so finite, they could easily have tied for the gold, and all would be more than happy with that - including Sasha. (I think; because I think she likes her teammate, Anna). ... Anyways, the easy answer *is* the typical one - she did not have enough artistry in her Free Skate. It gets complicated with that answer, because I think Sasha has somewhat of a split personality - she is part badass, and part ballerina. Ah! if only she could combine the two! But the two are in a power struggle within her, I believe. I truly believe it. If you look at her Free Skate of this Olympics: she skated to a full-on Gutter Punk song! On one hand that is friekin awesome and badass, and it makes me love her all the more; but on the other hand it's like ... come on, you gotta figure that - even now days - the Olympics is not ready for that. I literally think that if she had skated to ANY other song than that punk rock, she would have won. Is that right and fair? NO. Does it makes sense? Yeah. ... Anyways, going back to the artistry: I do know that Sasha has plenty of artistry in her. I have seen her competitions as a younger girl. She has evolved into more of an athlete (or, being honest, somewhat of a machine, or, work-horse). She simply has to skate for the love of skating; not for the main goal of winning Gold. ... Ah! but I keep seeing that video screenshot of her in anguish, mascara running, and it is just sad, borderline tragic. She is SO AWESOME. Love her. Win or lose. Ideally, she would let go of that demand to win gold and be best of the world (whether she is amazing and awesome enough to deserve it - WHICH SHE IS! I will tell her that right now), and I hope she recaptures more of the love of the sport for itself, and for HERself ... and, in that state, we would see her win gold. ... But as I say that, I realize she is right, in perhaps THE main way, regarding this topic. ... she did enough to win gold this time. She strived so hard, she planned a daring program - and NAILED IT - ... and yet they brushed her off. .... ugh. It is sad. We love her, though. Not only a mind-blowing skater, but a very genuinely cool and good person.
