I simply can't take my eyes off superlicious foods and the skilled hawkers frying techniques, so hard work daily, hours on end. Before our 'food crawl' at all the hawker centres, we will have be on strict diet as we can't resist all these 'goodies'. Can u bring some of these hawker type cooking to London?????, Have a very good weekend 18.9.21
SG Govt could have easily come up with some instant freeze dried ready to ship hawker food 😅 I actually started this coz I thought not enough support and recognition was given to really help them thru..
Hopefully with your very detailed interesting videos, it will eighteen SG govt the importance of this cultural heritage, not to be lost forever plus the authentic dishes. R u able to highlight this to the Tourism Minister, these videos are seen worldwide???
Muffins? Can't believe they now have it in hawker centers, thought it is more a supermarket kind of thing. Wow, their batter really looks thick and rich. 👍 I like anything with hor fun, especially when it is fresh, noodles are wide and soft! This is my favorite stall - Hor Fun Premium. CKT always looks gooooddd. Wow, the sauce for the roast pork rice is really rich and tempting. Admire that 86 year old uncle, how nice to still be able to eat such rich food. At my age, I'm already having to cut back on sugar, salt and oil. Thanks for another enjoyable video Puggy. 😁😜
Yeah.. amazing right? How muffins can be a thing at hawker centres. The pioneers must have placed a hopeful bet on such a daring mindset change. Yes.. some viewers vouched for the hor funs there. The amazing thing about that uncle.. he walks slowly and came with the wife.. aww.. beautiful retirement 😎👍🏼
There are three roast stalls in Alexandra Village, but I would only go to Lye Bo, by a young HK couple. The stall closes early during weekdays and serves lunch time crowds. The char siew is not tough, the flavour is not overpowering, and the meat is not overly roasted. The marinate is different. Thanks for taking the trouble to film this. :)
Hey thanks for the recommendation. 🙂 Would look out for it next time. Interesting how a HK couple would set foot as a hawker here. Pray more are coming over to impart hongkongs legendary culinary skills 🤤😂. Many of our good local hawkers also learnt their skills from HK chefs. Back then.. they had to pay "school fees" to learn from the old Masters
Been watching all your video and love all the food , I used to live in Singapore watching your video it’s makes me missed Singapore, and you have such a great sense of humour , wonder if you are a Chinese.
That hawker centre used to be famous for their bbq stalls selling stingrays and sotong. Wonder if those stalls are still there? Been away from Singapore too long already and miss the food especially in these times.
I haven't tried before.. that day a customer so kind.. gave her drink stall owner at Ghim Moh a whole box.. that's how I got to know about it.. the line was long at 1pm.. was still long at 3pm when I left 😋
@@Piggypuggy yah the chilli is so good they even sell tubs of it separately. the traditional flavors of ang ku kueh are better than the fancy flavours like custard tho. There's another kueh store along the HDB, facing the main road, called grandma something. also nice old school bakery at the hdb. the xiao long bao store has a very good 紅油抄手. Prefer it to the restaurant ones haha. There's also an old school wanton mee stall originally from dover market
Hai Piggypuggy 😀 Ang Ku Kueh and Hor Fun, my favorite. Mostly I likes Chinese food. May be my late mom was a Chinese 😂🤣😂 Tq Piggypuggy for sharing and happy weekend 😀👍
I only eat from Jin Pai Zi Char whenever I am there.Their kailan fish rice set at $4 is a steal.I will usually add $1 each of fish and veggies.Sambal lala and cereal prawns are nice too. Owners are quite friendly and have been patronising them for the last 14 years. I usually order kailan fish or beef rice sets whenever I am in that area.Never tired of eating it.Too bad you did not spend a few seconds covering them. That stall always have a long queue at lunchtime or dinnertime. Another food stall you should cover is Star Yong Kwang BBQ Seafood or Pathi and Jane Thai food.
Thanks Daniel 😀 I'll definitely be back.. this time round.. I was a little late for the action. 1am and the lunch crowd was over and done with 😅. Sounds good.. I wanna try the Zhi Char too
@@Piggypuggy My recommendations from Jin Pai Zhi Char are above. Another dish to try is their curry fish head but I don't eat that myself and my wife or parents said it is nice too.
@@Piggypuggy 8 years ago,I had to step in on a Saturday during dinner time with a long queue when a portly smartly dressed guy in his 30s kept verbally abusing the chef when he lost track of his order. The chef kept smiling and apologising profusely to the guy.I told him to either wait it out or to order from other stalls.Felt so sorry for him.We waited over an hour FYI. Behaved like a hoodlum there with his smart dressing. Finally backed down and walked away. My wife had to tug my arm to keep me quiet and prevent me from getting into a fight.
I just saw that Singapore hit the 80% fully vaccinated rate. Well done! Every jab in the arm is a step towards the new normal. Every jab in the arm-- here or there-- is a step closer to me popping over and enjoying the delights of Singapore.
Indeed the soy sauce chicken is forever sold out, may need to eat it during breakfast. Another popular zicha stall behind 莆田 stall row is crazily popular too. Guess it is not only tasty but value for $, 宫保鸡丁饭,排骨王饭,etc abt $4, but prepare to wait for 1/2hr to forever as the boss is the only cook, his foreign wife is in charge of ordering.
The beef tendon soup goes well with the song 😅 … seriously I’m always eating the same old thing at this FC, so the beef tendon soup is next on my to try list. For the soya chicken noodle stall, I find their noodle is not QQ enough but their HK style wanton is very good though. If you walk behind the FC to the other row of shophouse (facing the industrial area), you can go to Ah Seng Durian (of Ghim Moh Market fame) & their Cafe Arm - Durian Lab to wash down with some Durian / Durian-based desserts The ‘stacked kuehs’ designed by world class architect (google interlace condo) if I recall correctly
that hor fun premium has got the best beef horfun anywhere hands down. So many nice things to eat but whenever I'm there always end up beef hor fun and the old confectionery shop opposite it. Love watching him cook the food too. The avocado drinks are over rated honestly.
