Alexandrinsky Theatre: Lermontov's "Masquerade" (Postcard 27 from St Petersburg) 

My first trip to the theatre in 2021 was to Russia's oldest national theatre, the "Alexandrinka". And what better to see there than a recreation of a performance given a few months before the Russian Revolution in 1917 of Lermontov's "Masquerade". An elaborate, yet true to the spirit of the original text, performance of this play which brutally critiques the "Belle Monde" made for a wonderful evening!
