My Berkey has sat on my counter unused for 7 years because I couldn’t figure out the priming, mostly because the instructions were so horrible. I’m buying these Alexapure filters asap.

You simply force water through the filter, however you choose to do it. I used the rubber washer they provided and did it outside at the spigot, for 2 reasons: I knew I'd spray water around a few times, and, the outside spigot didn't have an aerator. Very easy to do.

I think I'm going to set up a small RO system hooked up to my water while power is available and have one of these as a back up for no power situations.

I filled it with tap water and put my TDS handheld water tester device to it and it gave a moderate drinking reading which indicates avarrage tap water. I then took a reading from the actual water faucet and the level was slightly worse. I then went to my 5 gallon bottle which I bought the water at those businesses that fill your 5 galllon bottles. I took a measurement reading and it was at the lowest level of my device which is ideal drinking level. I don’t see a big difference of the Alexapure compared to regular tap water.

Believe it or not, I found an Alexapure Pro at the local Goodwill store for $15. It had the filter in it but no telling how old it was, so I putchased a new filter for it. The filter cost about $70 or so. I did manage to over fill it which made quite a mess. I bought a water level sight glass which solved the over filling issue. You can definitely taste the difference in the water. I use the water from the Alexapure for my coffee maker. And then to top it off, I found a Big Berkey water filter with the filters for around $13. This one is 9" wide and stands 23" tall.. The only thing missing on this filter is the black rubber non slip ring on the bottom. So now I have 2 water filters. So now I have 2 water filters.

I bought a ProOne 9inch filter (well, bought 2 but one came cracked so got a refund on the crack one). I took out all my berkey filters in my berkey (had my berkey for 11 years) and watched everything up, scrubbed down new filter as directions say. Then I put filtered gallons of bottled water in the top reading 6ppm on my TDS meter, and when the water goes through the ProOne Filter and in the bottom it first read 286ppm. I did this 4 times (waste of water), washed everything up to get all the sediments in, and put through 2 more gallons for the 5th time. Again, the read is 6ppm (wegmans filtered water using) and shockingly after all this time and effort, the water comping out is at 186ppm. Now what the heck is this filter leeching into my water to increase the ppm from 6 to 186? My berkey filters would be 6ppm to 5 or 6ppm after it went through, but.. this filter adds another 180ppm to the water so i am scared to drink it since i think what could be happening is the filter has all types of stuff in it that is disolving and getting into the drinking portion of the water. Is this perhaps why the are not NSF certified for the filter filtering out what the claim it filters out? Instead the only NSF certification is for just the parts and materials, not for how the filter actually works. I emailed the company so waiting for a response and I so hope they don't tell me the Filter adds stuff to the water that is beneficial since what goes into the filter should come out the same or better, NOT worse! I think these filters are all marketing BS and don't actually do what they claim they do, which is why they are NOT certified. The tests only go up to 200 gallons, but yet the 9 inch filter is rated for 1200 gallons (why not test to 1200 gallons?). I am so aggravated after reading all about the berkey short-commings and just seeing other companies appear to be following the same formula and just collecting money. I do have an RKIN over the counter R/O filter, but like the gravity filter for our dogs/coffee/and to drink more spring water versus just the R/O water, but i won't even give this ProOne filtered water to my dogs since who knows what is leeching out that ceramic filter and being injected into the drinking water. I don't think I trust any of these products as they lack certifications and most of the reviews do not do real testing of the water before going in and after coming out!! Why???

Thank you for wacthing I do not have answers for you. I not trying to sale a water filter to anyone. I know with us and the city water which was near undrinkable putting it throught the filter it taste better than any bottle water and bw has no smell.

have you ever had the water tested to see what kind of "stuff" was in there? I had a water test completed on my pond last year and since have gotten an Alexapure. Out of curiosity I had same water test done and have been astounded by the difference! Went from a 2 page report on what I call woolyboogers in the water, (ie nitrite, nitrate, sulfates, e coli, coliform) before scary after drinkable. Ecoli for one 172 (2022), after filtered

I recently purchased the Alexapure Pro system (October, 2023.) I have filled it up 15 times and thrown away each batch because the water tastes like the filter. My question is how many times do I need to do this before the water tastes good.

Thank you for watching. I do not have a good answer for u as we did not have that situation with ours . It took the smelly city water and turned it into better than bottle water right away. We suggest calling the company to see what they may offer

Also when you first get the filter does the water smell kinda dungy..is it ready to go after 2 gallons filtered at the beginning?

how long does it take to filter water from the top to fill the bottom with 1 filter and does the spout pour water at a decent rate?
@timebythetent3594
@timebythetent3594 9 месяцев назад
Thank you for watching. When the top chamber is full it filter faster as it empties through the filter it gets slower. It will filter a gallon when full in a hour to a hour and a half . Yes the filtered water does have a good flow rate.

So it seems they’ve changed their claims to 200 gallons/filter recently (at least in relation to chlorine)

Correction: It is NOT divide by 5000. It is 5000 divided by the water usage.

How can this be a very valid review if all you did was state the same info that the company provided you? You should have sent your water off before and after filtering to show why is was or was not a good filter system. Water Filter Guru does really good reviews where he does send the water off to a lab for testing. More information, more comparison is always a good thing as these companies are continuously changing.

Thank you for watching. I understand your point on sending the water to a lab. We were just impressed that the water coming out on the unit was like bottle water and could be drank unlike from the tap
