Fast translation for you. Might be some mistakes but what ever. First a clip from your live show in Tuska 2003. Your stage fitness have been said to be unbelievably strong. What should we know about this clip? Alexi: "First you have to know that this is the last show with our former guitarist Alexander last gig so Roope isn't playing." Roope: "I was at the background" Ok, let's watch the clip. After that gig you joined into the band, Roope. What were you talking when you started to search a new guitarist? Roope: "Mostly: Now we don't have a guitarist, what should we do? I'd been with them so long, as a roadie and guitar tech guy and I knew the songs pretty well already. So it was relatively easy to fill in, first only few gigs but then gigs poured in and then it drifted to this point." Was there any demoing with you, because most of the times that happens when you are searching a new member? Alexi: "Ofcourse not, he is after all Roope Latvala! Besides we had already been playing together" Roope: "Sinergy" Alexi: "From the 99 so it was pretty clear already that he can play. But honestly at first it was like friend (Roope) just helps with few gigs but suddenly the year passed fast "oops, what happened". Well do you want to join us?" How your membership was officially sealed? Roope: "Well, it was during the 3rd American tour last year and in a one beautiful day it was decided in a bus while drinking: "Well, let's just stay this way" "Do you really want to stay in this band?" "Well truth in the dick (ofcourse :D )" just kidding Alexi: But officially he was baptized in Wacken 2004 Was there fireworks and cakes? Alexi: Well no, but probably just poured some vodka on the skull :D But it's the tought that counts. You are both outstanding guitarists. Will the studio sessions go to just shredding? Both: Ofcourse! :D Roope: There it goes when you just shred and polish, perkele Alexi: Not only that but ofcourse there is shredding. I think it's part of this kind of music and if you can do it, why hide it? But you can't say that we don't want to show anything. Especially if you train in the cellars until your head turns blue, and after you learn it, why would you hide it? Kind of And you (Alexi) have listened to Roope and learned from his playing, do you (Roope) ever feel like "No, let me show you how it's done"? Roope: Well not really. Alexi: But a little Roope: A little yes, we have quite same styles but we ain't just the same. You both have a custom guitars. Do you get to be part of the planning process? Both: Yes, yes Alexi: It's depends what you want for it, from what kind of wood, color and all tiny details. Roope: Just what you order :D You are going to Australia next. Gigs are getting sold out already. Why this happens? Are you selling a lot of discs or is internet a part of that? Alexi: We haven't really sold that many copies in there but this last cd HCDR has sold more than earlier records. And you really can't tell a thing from record sales because that internet thing is what it is with downloads. At least Sydneys 2 gigs are sold out I'm not sure about others Roope: They are quite small venues, something like 750 capacity or so. Alexi: Yeah yeah, but here in Finland we have to tell it's about 7000 :D Roope: Yeah it's pretty yes. There is a lot of bush radios :D Soon we know how your Living Dead Beat positions in the Finnish album charts, but do you like Bon Jovi? Alexi: Until the New Jersey album I liked but after that it went totally down to hand shakes :D You were not in the charts at all :( Alexi: That's a bummer but it was nice to visit anyways :D thanks thanks Congratulations! Your album is now the number 1 in the charts and it dropped The Rasmus down. Alexi: Sorry Rasmus :D One for that *fist bumb* How are you feeling? Alexi: Thanks thanks Roope: Pretty fun One 13 year old kid I know told that he can't listen to Bodom because it's a trendy band in the school and everyone listens to it :D Alexi: A trendy band? Roope: I hope a Dingo (old finnish "boy band") phenomenon won't happen :D How it feels to be a favourite band for high schoolers? Alexi: Hell, it's amazing. Roope: I liked WASP when they started when I was in that age Alexi: :D That was probably kind of a trendy band. Did you have that "circular saw jockstrap"? Roope: Yes yes :D You are now going to tour to Japan, Australia, America and in Finland too. Can you keep the booze cap closed? Both: No. Not at all :D Now music video of In Your Face. It was filmed in east Berlin. What kind of video it is? Alexi: It's pretty basic heavy video, where dudes are moshing in industrial area. But I think the quality is like a movie. Production company has also filmed Rammstein videos and stuff. It looks really cool and that place looked like I don't even want to know what was made there. Roope: It was something like an old metal melting factory - probably some tiger tanks been built there. Quite harsh looking place. Closed at the end of the war. Thank you for visiting. Now the video.
Conclusion after watching this without understanding anything: Finnish is an interesting language and Finn beauty (Finland/Estonia) is something special.
Pakko kattoa tämä uudestaan tänään... Vittu vie.
Back when Alexi was still alive and these two amazing guitarists used to be best buddies! I wish things didn't end this way... the way Roope was dismissed, the way COB was disbanded and the way Alexi passed away... sigh
Thanks for this, great interview. Good questions and Aleksi and Roope in a very good mood. The trolling part @5:50 was funny. "Sorry guys you didn't make the top list, thanks for coming. - Congratulations you're number one". (It's a show where they reveal top selling albums in Finland and Are You Dead Yet was #1)
I know it’s been said a million times on this video. But I am completely mesmerized every time a shot of this interviewer pops up. I can’t believe how insanely beautiful she is. Some dude is very VERY lucky 😬😬
Read your comment. Made me wonder what you were talking about so did quick search. This is the first I heard about it. Damn, what a disappointment, massively talented guy.
@@NoName-t7e Ow man... 3 days ago, moments after the news was released Loudwire uploaded a video with the best Alexi Laiho moments, at first my naive mind thought ow ok maybe it's a late video about the CoB split up but i liked it that they made something about my favourite guitar player and songwriter ever so i was happy to watch it, than i scrolled down to the comments... i was rly shocked and could not believe the comments, really gave me a punch in the stomach. I discovered them when they released the 'Smile Pretty For The Devil' music video 12-13 years ago and been a huge fan of CoB ever since, they got me into more extreme and technical metal. I bought every album (and have max. 2 of any other band) and never stopped listening to this day. Especially these days i'm constantly listening to them, Alexi Laiho instantly became my biggest idol and it feels like losing a family member. I'm really heartbroken, i was never even close to feeling like this after someone died in the music industry, yeah it was sad when Chester Beddington, EVH, Lemmy and soo many more great artists passed away but this feels so different he meant so much to me and his music got me happy and hyped even on my worst days... this time his music needs to get us through the fact that he is not here anymore, that we will never be able to see him shred that flying V on stage anymore and never hear new amazing stuff from him or even a simple video of him doing silly stuff or whatever. R.I.P. Wildchild, u followed the Reaper waay too soon and with u a part of me died aswell, but i'm very thankful for all the music and the amazing person u were and i have been looking up to for over a decade ... u will be missed forever!
@@RonjanKitchen Damnit, i knew it was bad when he got fired, i really loved the CoB line-up the most with him in it, especially seeing him play 'In Your Face' i'm glad i saw them live like that and i wish he got better... it's like nobody cares about him anymore and i really want him to know some still do, i don't want to see another great guitar player die too soon :(, alcohol and depressing feelings is a dangerous toxic mix
Seen wasted daily in his home neighborhood and local pub. With his way of life it’s pure chance he’s still alive and hasn’t left the stage of life before Alexi. Sad really, seems like such a nice and gentle person when sober.
Even it's Finnish closed -caption would help understand wtf they are saying. I understood about 4 or 5 Suomi words. (I could tell she was asking something about Alexander or difference of the 2 albums around 4:39)
They were talking about their popularity exploding in Australia and comparing the amount of sold album from previous to hate crew death roll. HCDR had sold alot more copies than the previous ones. She also mentioned that every show in Australia were sold out and Alexi hadn't even realized it.
Don't know whaathaa fuwaak they're are saying, but Roope looks Guilty as Faaaawk! Over there looking like the interviewer chick is hittin him with the ol' Good Cop Bad Cop routine, SIMULTANEOUSLY! lolol xD
No nyt on kukkahattu tiukalla. 😬 Onnea matkaan kuitenkin.
@@pixelbasedlifeforms She started in a legendary indie cult tv channel MoonTv doing raunchy festival reports, alternative music and cooking shows in late 90s or early 00s and moved on to national public broadcasting company doing relaxed music programs, and finally onwards to bit more serious cooking and renovation shows. So, she's been around 20 years but not too much. I'd say she's semi-known to people who still watch tv, but certainly not one of the worn out public figures. Yet, some may still remember her mainly from burning her pubic hair in a festival report in early days. Lol, hope this helps.
@@lorenzospata8399 Haha, indeed. I dated a Finnish lady for about 7 years. I wanted to keep my basic Finnish knowledge so started learning Finnish in Duolingo.
A really mess that this unique conversation with two of the greatest metal heroes is not with an Inglish translation. R.I.P Alexi and Roope should go to reab.🖤🤍🖤🙏
