you're wrong. you can hear it happening on every album. if you listen to every one of their albums from start to finish, in order, from something wild, to relentless reckless forever, with every release you can progressively hear them get more thrashy, but still with that bodom sound, and the one to me that was right in the middle of that whole progression, where it all came together and was just like, ok, this is what bodoms about was when hate crew deathroll came out. thats a great record!!
i agree with everything you just said! you're not seeing the big picture and asking the right question though! the real question is WHY did they become more thrash-oriented so progressively? The answer is because they were becoming recognized. I agree to a certain point Bodom was only evolving (maybe up to Follow the Reaper) but after that they started making music that appealed to a broader audience purposely. Hate Crew Deathroll is my favorite album but this is true with that album also dude
These guys had the ST⭐RDOM but they didn't let it go to their head. Alot of stars from anywhere else ( and from there also) wouldn't keep answering questions because their drinking and the ego would come out and they would feel too important. Like " fuck it, there will always be another interviewer so leave me alone!" and walk away. These guys stayed down to earth and were very cool.
Thats just how most finns are, you could say that its a part of our culture. Everyone is treated pretty much equally, you dont call your boss "sir" or something like that. You can notice it in many aspects of life here. Flaunting your wealth, acting like you own the world or other stuff like that is often ridiculed and frowned upon.
@@StiffRoddyRodd that's awesome man 👍 and I love the language! Just the way it sounds lol. Idk just something about it makes it so that I could listen to people talking it back and forth for hours lol.
@@joeyj5924 im glad to hear that, theres not much use for it outside of Finland 😁 and i feel like most of us are not really the travelling type. I used to travel around europe because of my work and i heard so many funny descriptions about my native language. Once an australian friend of mine asked am i casting spells, an invocation to a long lost deity or something like that. I was talking to my mom on the phone.
@@StiffRoddyRoddcasting spells 🤣 some people are funny.. Do you guys learn English at a young age or something? It seems that alot of you are pretty good at speaking it. I always wondered that lol.
@@joeyj5924 We actually do, we have to study english in the comprehensive school from a young age. Even Alexi mentioned that the finnish educational system was one of the reasons why he was so good in speaking it, and even thanked it despite not being exactly a model student. We also dont have any movies or tv shows dubbed, except shows for kids. For example i started to learn english way before school because i wanted to find out information about the characters and plots in ps1 games :D
have on a band. No not all bands that's for sure, but don't try and tell me CoB hasn't been purposely changing their style up just lately. That's evident, it doesn't matter what any fanboy says (i'm a diehard COB fan, always will be) and no offense but money is clearly a factor with these dudes
I'm not a musician (depends on what you mean by the term). I am currently learning music theory and I play guitar about 5 hours a day. I don't know if that's a musician but whatever. Anyways dude, have you ever had a shitload of money or a badass deal thrown your way? Some people are different than you (maybe not so different, you haven't received a huge check in the mail from going on tour, to base your answer on), namely COB. I'm not a musician no, but I understand the effect money could
alcohol is just bad mental health problem, you cannot blame alcohol for problems it may cause, ask yourself what can you do for ones mental well-being instead of making them go to anonymous alcoholics meeting. I bet after so many years in a band you can get weird thoughts and get tired of life.
great fucking interview. interesting to see Alexi's opinion on America's 'shitty festivals'. haha. I'd say his opinion of America has totally changed as well as the style he NOW plays to please the westerners..I'm not saying I don't enjoy the music, it's just quite obvious he changed the style to please a more broad audience.
you never get rid of the old influences, you just gain alotta new ones along the way, and they were in it for the fame and their "audience" why would they conciously change the sound that got them infamous in the first place? its just natural evolution of musicians. it happens to everyone. listen to the first and last beatles records, or trivium from ember to inferno upto shogun and in waves, or dream theater in the 80's and dream theater now. it has nothing to do with audience i promise
@@krstn36there's no proof that smoking would have any effect on the voice, usually it's booze. Aging changes your voice, this was filmed almost 20 yrs ago
If I understood you correctly, his liver is just fine. He stopped drinking many years ago, after he was hospitalized in Sweden (or was it in Norway), he made a decision that's it, no more booze, esp during tours. Sometimes he may have a couple of beers but his Xtra hard partying days are long gone.
@@stoprightmeowww Not offence but have you seen the official autopsy report? None of us know the real cause of death, except for the authorities, pathology etc and his family. Let's wait until they release an official announcement of his death. However, as a nurse I can say that if u quit drinking you don't die from it after 7-8 years so...i dunno. I was always worried about his diet and that he ate way too little.
no disrespect but, but i take it ur not a musician. my sound and my taste now are not even close to my taste and sound years ago. it still sounds relatively similar cuz im the same guy, but in no way are they the same AT ALL. its very difficult to just say alright im gonna play this way. your feeling, your tase, and ur influences are changing constantly. and from personal experience as you get older you begin to develop more and more of a taste for songwriting instead of non stop shred
