@@tobacco118 The screamer vs Xu Xin is 0 for (6 or 7). His overall winning % against Chinese national players cannot be too high. While Alexis's record as mentioned by one of the commentators is 60%. I am not sure there is another non-Chinese player who possesses a winning % against Team China.
Alexis Lebrun almost beat Fan Zhen Dong again! This is proof that it was not a one off lucky win for Lebrun the last time. Alexis played even better this time as he is more experienced now, but FZD played much better than the last time as well. It was a very tight match. Alexis should take this loss as a big positive.
Lebrun was down 6-9 in the first set, he then won 5 points in a row against FZD to win the set. Incredible. Then he moved ahead again by winning the third set. He was the one to reach match point first in the fourth set. Just one point away from winning. FZD had to defend himself very hard and finally beat Alexis in the fifth. Alexis needs to keep up this level for all his matches to enter top 10.
Alexis lost the mental game, as it has been his pattern recently. I hope Alexis watches this match and realizes the holes he was able to expose in FZD's game. I am sure they will meet again in the Olympics, Let's go France!
Regardless the score. There is a considerable age difference between these two. Reflex dictates speed and control. Fan won on solid basic skill and ball control. He excels in spin and power but not speed while Lebrun plays with lightning-fast speed on counters and rallies. Chinese, physically inferior, focus on inside and near table plays. It's incredible how Fan could resist/outplay what Lebrun favours. How Fan dissects Lebrun to come back in the 5th game show he's still #1 but Lebrun actually played 110%, no doubt. Congrats to both. The video's tops, so much better than ittf but wish there was Adam calling. Otherwise, it would be perfect. Thanks so much for the edit/upload. Greetings from Australia.
What do you mean childish? Even though Alexis lost, he played an exceptional game against FZD. He could just as well have won the game and he even had a matchball.
