Nighttime seldom comes in this game, but when it does, expect to be greeted with some beautiful music!
There's a frequent complaint regarding Xenoblade Chronicles 3's tendency to reset the time of day every time a player fast travels, leading to many areas' night themes never quite being heard or given much recognition. Despite this, I believe that many of the game's night tracks are some of the most beautiful and unique pieces present, and this is one of those.
I at one point read a post somewhere that declared Xenoblade Chronicles 3's original soundtrack as one of the most 'mature' the original poster had heard, and that statement has rung true, at least to me, while listening to almost every piece in the game. This one, Alfeto Valley's night rendition, plays in one of the earliest areas in the game, but despite the rudimentary nature of the game at this point, given players' necessity of adjusting to a new journey, the track does not hesitate to convey that this adventure will be 'mature' and tolling. That's what I love so much about this piece.
I've been learning this piece on my keyboard for the past two months and at various points debated adding a flute to accompany it, but I ultimately decided to complete it as a solo piece. This is because, throughout my journey as a musician, the piano has always been the most difficult instrument for me to continuously improve at. Despite its almost necessary inclusion in every cover I create, I never find myself working on piano parts that actually challenge me. I found that if I focused on this piece as its own solo cover, I would feel more motivated to work on it. Also, because it is one uninterrupted take, it forced me to dive headfirst into the challenge of learning the entire piece and being able to play it (for the most part) without mistakes. It’s not perfect. The tempo fluctuates, and a split second of the video was sped up to account for a brief pause I’d made, but I’m proud of it.
