This is an eight day trip I did in Algonquin Provincial Park with a friend of mine in 2008. For those who are familiar with my videos, I'm sorry to say that Maddy (the Goose) was not able to join us on this trip. With a 16 foot canoe, two people, and gear and food for eight days we simply ran out of room. It just wasn't the same without her and I hope to not exclude her from any future trips.
It's also worth noting that there is little to no video specifically of my friend or myself. I intentionally did it this way since I don't want these videos to be about my buddy and I so much as I want to simply capture the trip and the feeling of being there.
Hope you enjoy!
Cheers,
Troy

Before your post I had been meaning to get to this for a while now so here I am finally getting to it, thanks. I'll just name the more significant lakes, I think this covers them. You should be able to see the route from them pretty clearly. We also took a full day off so it's one day short. It's a loop. Cedar Lake > Catfish Lake > Hogan Lake > Lake La Muir > Burntroot Lake > Robinson Lake > Nipissing River > Cedar Lake

@STRAYC0Y0TE Glad you've been enjoying the videos. Concerning the trip, it went as follows: Cedar Lake -> Catfish Lake -> Hogan Lake -> Lac La Muir -> Big Trout Lake -> Longer Lake -> Robinson Lake -> Burntroot Lake -> Nippising River -> Cedar Lake -> Home!

We did this trip at the beginning of August. There were times that the bugs got fairly bad but it was tolerable. The thing with the bugs is that they usually pass. I find they get to be the worst at around 6 or 7pm but once it cools down a bit they tend to go away.

Hi - I'm trying to follow the route - Catfish to Trout to .. Could you lay it out for me? Awesome video BTW. I'm am looking forward to checking out your Temagami trip next - (I was there 2 years ago with my buddy.) This year we did part of the little Missinaibi River but unfortuanatley the water was low and the stream from Trump lake to Little Missinaibi Lake was blocked. However, highly recommended. Keep posting- love your videos.

It's my own boat. It's the Evergreen 16' Prospector, I quite like it. Not the lightest thing around but really sturdy and just feels nice. I talk about it more in the early comments of another video I have, "Algonquin Solo Canoe Trip - Part 1 of 2".

Thanks for the advice. Stay tuned since I'm in the process of trying to step-up my video footage and editing. I just released a new video of an eight day trip I did with a friend in the Temagami region (check out my channel to see it) which I spent extra time on the editing. Unfortunately I didn't have as much footage to work with as I would have liked. Though I now have footage from a solo trip on which I took much more footage.

The camera I used was a Canon PowerShot SD1000. It's just a point-and-shoot but considering its size and primary function being for shooting photos it does a respectable job with video. I just picked up the PowerShot SD1100 which does a better job with video and has stabilization which should help a bit with the shaky footage in my vids next year. The park is located in Ontario Canada about 3 hours west of Ottawa.

Hey Maddy, finally getting around to doig this trip. So excited. Glad you posted the video. I have another question for you. I have a kevlar lightweight -about 35 pounds, 12 feet long. I have no trouble with the weight, but it tips up and down as I move. (I am only 5 feet tall so I wonder if that's the problem?) Anyways I have a horrible time balancing it. Never saw anyone else having this problem. What am I doing wrong? I was wondering if you use the rope tied to the front of yours to balance.

Is that a rental canoe or your own? What type is it?

Very good film but along with reality shots what about some nice staged shots, often called beauty shots, try your writing skills when you return to do the editing. Keeping a verbal record is good. Have someone else take some picture of you. Comment with tips, how to setup, equipment etc. etc. rickc1945
