Two 25 stair spots in the same day? Goddamn! The Lyon ollie remains one of the gnarliest stunts attempted in the history of skateboarding... and he went back for seconds!
He has to be the most genuinely entertaining skateboarder ever to step in front of a camera. I love how natural he is there, talking to himself, the camera and the team kind of at the same time. Added with the context and what madness he is doing there... pffffff....
bloodyfrenchfred It's definitely possible, Ali planted two before kicking his board away. His board broke first, then slipped the second. But both his feet were on the board at the end of 25 fuking stairs!!
I remember seeing this when Sorry first came out and being amazed he didn't destroy his entire lower body... now after seeing this video I'm amazed how he took took the bail like a champ
He said himself that he cannot Ollie very far. He just likes to Ollie high and he doesn't think he could do this set at the moment because it's a damn 25 set.
I made a comment years ago on an old video of him jumping the stairs.......when he says..." its too much impact...but its still makable though".....words of a true skater....." I love Ali...all the stuff hes been through...I was so happy when i saw that video and saw Ali was there too....Aaron landed it for not only himself but for Ali too i think, but thats just me.....Good stuff you dont see in skateboarding much these days.
My thoughts exactly. I held my breath with every attempt, thinking he was gonna shatter into a million pieces. I was hoping he'd land it, but I give him props for trying. But sometimes you gotta just walk...limp away.
@@svinhestin1641 yeah Shane Cross was the one who died. He goes into detail about it in his Epicly Later’d episode. I wanna say he mentioned something about not wanting to let Shane ride with him cuz he didn’t have an extra helmet but Shane kept pushing it so he finally let him ride with. Ali was in the hospital for a while and had a pretty good head injury. Everyone on the internet was tearing him to pieces cuz it was easy to make a bad guy out of Ali. Ali was always drunk & Shane was a new skater with a lot of talent. It got Ali to turn his life around tho. Had he not been in that accident he might’ve kept on drinking the way he was & life would’ve turned out worse for him. He might not be able to skate anymore but at least he’s living a healthy life now. In the end it still sucks that happened. Wish Ali never got into the alcohol so hard. Flip “Sorry” will always be one of my favorite videos but his part wasn’t great since he was always too drunk to focus on skating. When u look at old footage of him skating as a kid he ripped. Really wish he had a part in the Flip video of him at 100%
De lo Tepeu bang the fat friend...lmfao haha. I remember back in the day when I skated...wasn't much of a stair guy mainly did flat land tricks like tres, hardflips, b/s kicks... I had a pretty good manual form down too.
@@lazava5150 same here i had a small 4 stair gap i used to love to skate but never really went bigger then that i could manual with flips and nose manual from here 2 next year but looked like a fat kid first timer tryin to skate a pipe never could get that shit right at all
everyone on here thinks he is stupid but he isn't stupid he is committed and that is one of the most important things you need when u skate or do any sport
i miss ali sooooo much !!! there is no one like him and there never will be. i wont be happy until i see him on a board again pleeeaase come back ali !!
He just landed on both his heels down a giant 50-stair, and pretty mutch cant walk. "i don't... if i can fucking try it tommorow.." THIS IS REAL SKATEBOARDING
hes a good skater i mean.. hes obviously a professional but.seriously. what the fuck was he thinking? I mean I dont think anyone has ever ollied something that big in their life.. its like 1 and a half times as big as the leap of faith. I even saw bladers hittin that thing and almost killing them selves. There is only about 3 people in the world that do gaps this big.. Andrew Reynolds... This guy.. and probably (Hate to say it but its true ) Ryan sheckler. Hes known for his huge gaps.. not his tech skills. Just look it up.. He like kick flipped this 20 stair it was nuts. but yeah this is just dumb.. 25 stairs that you cant even see the end of lol
+Matty Weedhouse Exactly. Ali didn't use special padding or the bank for a run-up and he DIDN'T GRAB but he still stuck it. The fact that he didn't roll away shows problems with the equipment, not the skater.
I remember me and my homies watching this from the flip video. That stair set I mean. Looks way bigger here than it does when jaws landed it. Insane anyone landed it/even tried it. Shout to ali and jaws man. And all my old skate homies. Hope they're all good in life frfr
Oh, this vidéo is awesome but seeing it live was the best ! "Cité international Lyon" We could hear him scream "Aw that's fucking hurt" from miles away ! Epic day, thank you for filming that.
Ahh I just remembered that I had a New Wave Boulala deck! The one where he is about to smash a guitar then fall! Those New Waves were very interesting especially because they chipped/broke in weird ways due to the wavy ply on top n bottom. They did slide really really well when brand new but once worn down it was just like a normal board.
Has anyone ever landed the final spot? I imagine if he got some soft ass wheels (78a soft), some rubber shock pads, and skate insoles, to help cushion the landing, it might be possible, by either Jaws, or Boulala.
From what I've seen this has only been attempted, never landed. . . But, I could be wrong. I think if you were willing to go big enough with enough push it's doable. You'd need everything you said, and someone crazy enough to try. Honestly, I can't believe this dude tried as many times as he did, props alone for that.
HeyGuysItsGuy depending on you prefs, it could make landing this so much harder. I know if I was to lift a board with hard wheels tight trucks and risers on them I would have a hard time getting used to it and I would skate shit for a while before I got the feel. Although what you are saying is not incorrect but your pref on what/how to skate can make or break you. I notice when my trucks get that little bit too loose for me that my tricks start to get really hard to land clean (goddamn you snake bit) and when they are too tight it's harder to roll away because there is no give.
Lets not forget he did this on a 7.75...maybe and 8inch "vert" board at best. ..... plus that eras extra hardwheels...slow bearings...pushing to the stairs......no body armor, no grab, and definitely hungover. All the variables against him and he still came darn cloze
+Dipper Pinesmabel yes doing a melon looks sick, but its kinda standing ali up, nobody will ever do it like ali anyway, and pads protect everything except feet yea, but if jaws got enough speed every try he wouldnt have to deal with what api dealt with
May i remind all of the youtubers that this crazy ollie maybe can be done by Jaws, but he uses Footprint Insoles to take part of the impact. Ali Boulala tried it without those, they didn't even exist at the time, so this factor adds another whole level of gnarlyness, crazyness and risk, while Jaws maybe if he tries it can even bail it without getting injures so much. Props to him.
GhettoWood FB and ? You know there are a lot of French skaters, so it's not the place that is controversial. Its just that most of the people are scared of doing it, look at the biggest Ollie ever, it was done by Aaron Jaws Homoki, and it is at least half the size ok that 50 funcking gap
