Ali "Arjibuk" Mills is an Aboriginal Singer who has been singing since the age of Eight. This is a "Kriole" version of "Waltzing Matilda" The Kriole language uses some English words
How can you NOT feel good when you hear this? I understand the language is Creole/Pidgin. What a fabulous, unusual rendition of this famous Australian song. Every time I hear it, I have a big smile on my face.
I grew up in the Pilbara as a white child and I LOVE this song very, very much, I love the language, thank you Ali Mills for your beautiful voice, very special memories for me xo
I have love this version ever since I heard it on Alan Jones Radio hour. I love her voice, and seriously thought she was a young girl until I saw her photo, but she is still very good. Congratulations Ali, it is very good.
Beautiful Ali. Took me back to my childhood on Kurranellli and Kurundi cattle stations then moving to Adelaide River. I miss those times and the Nunga dialect.
Using, my spouses' account - this is Elizabeth Bunker - this is sooo cool - really interesting to hear a creole/pidgin from the opposite hemisphere (I am a student of linguistics at Georgetown University in DC). Love it love it love it!!
Waltzing Matilda in the Aborigine language, can only get more Australian if Crocodile Dundee sang it with a kangaroo for a Vegemite commercial with Ned Kelly.
Dale Mac: A thorough search landed me the words. Let's see if I can get them into this email. I couldn't do it. My computer skills are poor. Search using Waltjin Bat Matilda You may find it, too. Good luck
@mrblindfreddy9999 G'day... Yest'dy I was on the verhanda, & Ali was on the Radio ; she started singing & the local Grey 'Roos came over, to listen in..! I began filming with the Phonecam, & uploaded the result into the Watch Later Folder, of my Playlists... Or, search 'Kung Fu, Kangaroo Dundee' & it'll come up. It's quite a cute juxtaposition, all done by Synchronicity ; I've simply doccumented the event. Unedited, uploaded from my Phone. Enjoy. Ciao.
